Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Mangroovy when I first pulled up to the residence complex in El Gouna – I mean, the name alone had me curious. But you know what? This 1BR condo completely surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you step onto that balcony and see the lagoon stretching out with those classic Gouna-style buildings reflected in the water, you get why this place has such a high rating. It’s not fancy in that over-the-top resort way, but there’s something genuinely glamorous about sipping your morning coffee while watching the wind-kite surfers getting ready for their day on the Red Sea.

What I really appreciate about staying here – and this is something you only notice when you’ve been in El Gouna for a few days – is how it sits perfectly between the action and the calm. You’re close enough to walk to the marina area where all the restaurants and bars are (honestly, the seafood at Moonsoon is incredible if you’re into that), but far enough that you’re not dealing with the late-night crowds or the music drifting up from the waterfront. The condo itself feels more like a proper apartment than a hotel room, which is clutch if you’re staying more than a couple nights. I actually found myself cooking breakfast most mornings because the kitchen is properly equipped – not just those sad hotel kitchenettes with two plates and a broken coffee maker. The AC works well too, which, let me tell you, matters a lot when you’re dealing with those afternoon temperatures that can hit you like a wall.

The whole Mangroovy complex has this laid-back residential vibe that I think works really well for El Gouna’s general atmosphere. Parking was never an issue (which can be a pain in some parts of town), and the building feels secure without being stuffy about it. I’ll be honest – it’s not going to blow you away with luxury finishes or anything, but that’s kind of the point. It’s comfortable, the view is genuinely beautiful, and you’re staying in what feels like a real neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble. The location means you can easily grab a taxi or even walk to the downtown area, but you can also just chill by the water and watch the boats go by. I found myself doing a lot more of the latter than I expected, actually – there’s something about those El Gouna sunsets that just makes you want to slow down and take it all in.
