You know what struck me first about this place? The way the morning light hits that back sea view – it’s honestly not what you’d expect from a “back” view at all. I mean, when you hear “back sea view” you’re probably thinking you got the short end of the stick, but at Mangroovy in El Gouna, it actually means you’re facing away from the main resort hustle and looking out at this quieter stretch of water that locals seem to prefer anyway.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – one bedroom that’s got this laid-back, beachy vibe without trying too hard. What I really appreciated was how the sea breeze actually works here (hence the name, I guess). You can leave the windows open most of the day, even in shoulder season, and get this constant flow of air that makes the whole place feel bigger than it is. The kitchen’s basic but functional – I made coffee there every morning and watched the fishing boats head out, which became sort of my daily ritual. El Gouna’s got this interesting thing where it’s technically part of Hurghada but feels completely separate, almost like someone dropped a Mediterranean town into the Red Sea, and from this spot you really get that sense of being somewhere unique.

Here’s the thing about staying at Mangroovy – you’re about a 10-minute walk from the main marina area where all the restaurants and nightlife happen, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the evening crowds if you just want to chill. The lagoons are everywhere in El Gouna (it’s built on islands, basically), so you’ll be crossing little bridges to get around, which sounds touristy but honestly becomes part of the charm. I found the best shawarma place by just wandering one evening – it’s this tiny spot near the mosque that you’d never find unless you were staying somewhere like this, away from the main tourist strip. Check-in was smooth, parking’s not an issue since El Gouna’s got that figured out better than most resort towns, and the whole area stays pretty quiet after 11 PM, which was perfect for me. The 10 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for a 3-star place – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises, and sometimes that’s worth more than all the fancy amenities in the world.
