Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Mangroovy in El Gouna – I mean, it’s a 3-star place and you know how those can go either way. But this little one-bedroom spot actually surprised me in the best way possible. The thing about El Gouna is that it’s this planned resort town about 20 minutes north of Hurghada, and it feels completely different from the chaos you’ll find in downtown Hurghada. Mangroovy sits right in the heart of it all, which means you’re walking distance to the marina and those little cafes along the waterfront where locals actually hang out (not just tourists).

What really got me was the view situation – and I’m someone who’s usually skeptical when places oversell their “hotel views.” But this one actually delivers. You’re looking out over the lagoons that make El Gouna famous, and in the morning when the light hits the water just right, it’s honestly pretty spectacular. The room itself is bigger than most hotel rooms you’ll find in this price range, with enough space to actually unpack your stuff and not feel like you’re living out of a suitcase. The kitchenette is basic but functional – I made coffee there every morning and it beats paying resort prices for mediocre hotel coffee, you know? Air conditioning works well too, which is crucial because even in winter, El Gouna can get warm during the day.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure everything worked properly. Check-in was smooth, they knew the area well enough to give actual helpful recommendations (not just the tourist trap stuff), and when I had a minor issue with the WiFi, someone was up to fix it within like 20 minutes. The location means you’re close enough to walk to Abu Tig Marina for dinner – there’s this great little spot called Moods that does excellent seafood if you’re into that sort of thing. You’re also not dealing with the typical resort bubble situation; you can actually explore El Gouna’s different islands and get a feel for how this place works as a community, not just a vacation destination. Parking was never an issue, and it’s quiet enough at night that you’ll actually sleep well. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you want to experience El Gouna without paying the premium prices of the big resorts but still want something comfortable and well-located.
