Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Mangroovy Ritzy when I first pulled up to the Mangroovy Residence complex in El Gouna – the name alone had me wondering if it was going to be cheesy or actually cool. Turns out, it’s pretty solidly in the “actually cool” camp. This cerulean apartment (and yes, they really call it that because of the gorgeous blue accents everywhere) sits right by the pool area, which means you’re literally steps away from taking a dip whenever the Red Sea heat gets to be too much. El Gouna itself is this weird, wonderful planned resort town about 20 minutes north of Hurghada proper – think less chaotic Egyptian beach town, more… well, actually planned community with canals and golf carts everywhere.

The apartment itself feels way more spacious than most hotel rooms you’d get for the price point. I mean, this is technically a 3-star place, but the setup and that 8.8 rating start making sense once you settle in. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend most of your downtime – it’s got this laid-back vibe where you can actually hear yourself think, unlike some of the bigger resort pools in Hurghada where kids are doing cannonballs all day. The whole Mangroovy complex has maybe 20 or 30 units total, so it never feels crowded. You know what I really appreciated? The little kitchen setup meant I could grab groceries from the Tamr Henna Plaza (about a 10-minute walk) and not have to eat out for every single meal. Plus, the air conditioning actually works – and trust me, in summer here, that’s not always a given even at pricier places.

What really sells this place though is El Gouna itself. You’re far enough from Hurghada’s tourist madness to feel like you’re somewhere special, but close enough that day trips are totally doable. The town has this Dutch-designed canal system that’s sort of surreal but also really pretty, especially in the evening when everything’s lit up. Most guests seem to be a mix of Europeans on longer stays and Cairenes escaping for weekends, which gives it a more authentic feel than the all-inclusive resort bubble. The beach access isn’t direct from the property – you’ll need to walk about 15 minutes or catch one of those little tuk-tuks to get to the main El Gouna beaches – but honestly, that’s fine by me. It keeps the pool area quieter, and when you do make it to the Red Sea, the snorkeling and windsurfing spots are absolutely worth it. Just heads up that El Gouna can feel a bit quiet if you’re looking for serious nightlife, but if you want to actually relax and maybe do some diving or kitesurfing during the day, then unwind by a peaceful pool in the evening, this little cerulean setup hits the sweet spot.
