Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Mangroovy” I rolled my eyes a little at the name, but this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked into El Gouna, which if you haven’t been there yet, is basically Egypt’s answer to a planned resort town (think less chaotic than Hurghada proper, more… well, actually livable). The whole boho vibe they’re going for isn’t just Instagram nonsense – there’s real attention to detail here, from the macramé wall hangings that don’t look cheap to furniture that’s actually comfortable, not just photogenic.

The pool view is legit, and I mean that matters because you’re going to spend time on that balcony. El Gouna gets this amazing light in the late afternoon that makes everything look golden, and from the second bedroom you can watch people doing their thing around the pool without feeling like you’re creeping. The space itself is genuinely spacious – I’ve stayed in plenty of “spacious” places that turned out to be clever camera angles, but you can actually move around here. The kitchen’s functional too, which is clutch because while El Gouna has decent restaurants, sometimes you just want to grab stuff from the local market and make your own breakfast. Speaking of which, there’s a good little market about a ten-minute walk toward the marina area where the locals actually shop.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. You know how some places in resort towns can get rowdy? This spot manages to be close enough to everything without being right in the chaos. The marina’s walkable – maybe fifteen minutes if you’re not in a rush – and that’s where you’ll find the better dining options and the boats heading out to the reef. Actually, pro tip: book your snorkeling trips from the marina directly rather than through hotel concierges, you’ll save like 30% and get the same boats. The wifi here is solid too, which honestly saved my trip since I had to jump on a few work calls (the second bedroom makes a decent office if you need it). Check-in was smooth, parking’s not an issue, and the whole place just feels… comfortable. Not trying to be something it’s not, you know? For a 3-star spot, it punches above its weight – I’ve definitely stayed in pricier places with half the character.
