Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Mangrove m3-1b-02? The name sounds like some kind of scientific research station, but honestly, that’s pretty fitting for El Gouna – this whole town feels like someone’s ambitious experiment in desert resort living, and it actually works. The hotel sits right at the entrance to El Gouna, which means you’re literally the first thing people see when they roll into this quirky planned community, but somehow it doesn’t feel like you’re stuck in some commercial zone.

I mean, being a 3-star place, I wasn’t expecting miracles, but the 9.1 rating makes sense once you settle in. The staff here actually knows your name by day two (not just pretending to remember like at those massive resorts), and they’ve got this laid-back efficiency that matches El Gouna’s whole vibe. The rooms are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but you’ve got decent AC (crucial when Hurghada hits those 40-degree days), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range spot. What really works is the location though – you’re close enough to walk into El Gouna’s main area where all the restaurants and bars are clustered around those artificial lagoons, but far enough that you don’t get the late-night party noise that drifts over from some of the beachfront places.

Here’s the thing about staying at the entrance to El Gouna: you get the best of both worlds without paying resort prices. You can easily grab a taxi or tuk-tuk (yeah, they have those here) to the marina or the beach clubs, but you’re also perfectly positioned if you want to explore Hurghada proper – the real town, not just the tourist strip. The hotel doesn’t have its own beach, but honestly, for the price difference, you can afford to pay for day passes to the nicer beach clubs or just head to one of the public beaches. Plus, the pool area is actually pretty decent for cooling off in the afternoon heat. Breakfast is… well, it’s Egyptian hotel breakfast – lots of bread, some cheese, decent coffee if you ask them to make it strong. Nothing revolutionary, but it’ll fuel you up for a day of diving or exploring. The whole place has this unpretentious feel that I really appreciated – no one’s trying to oversell you on excursions or spa treatments, they just want you to be comfortable and enjoy El Gouna at your own pace.

  What could be improved: Communication was a bit of a hassle to provide some certain basics like dish soap , sponge & toilet paper. This should be included within package

  Very nice compound with great pool, spacious apartmenr in ground floor overlooking the pool, clean and comfortable furnished with all what is needed for a comfortable stay. Quiet, yet close to supermarket, and just a 15 min. walk to the marina with its restaurants. Very friendly and accomodating landlord, easy check-in / check-out.

  Spacious apartment with clean rooms in a new compound, centrally located. Great option for groups or families. Good price!
