Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about the Mercure Hurghada? It’s actually tucked away about 12 kilometers down Safaga Road, which honestly turned out to be perfect – far enough from the chaos of downtown Hurghada but close enough that you’re not completely stranded. I mean, when you first pull up, the property feels way more spacious than most places along this stretch of the Red Sea coast.

The thing is, this isn’t one of those resorts where you feel packed in like sardines. The grounds have this sort of relaxed, breathing room vibe that I really appreciated – especially during peak season when everywhere else feels like a zoo. The rooms are solid 4-star quality without trying too hard to be fancy (which I actually prefer). What really sold me was the attention to details that matter: decent water pressure, air conditioning that actually works when it’s 40 degrees outside, and – this might sound weird – but the beds are the right height. You know how some hotel beds are either too low or so high you need a running start? These just work.

The pool area becomes the social hub by mid-morning, but here’s the thing locals don’t always tell you – if you want it quieter, the early evening hours around 5-6 PM are golden. Most day-trippers have cleared out, and you get this lovely breeze coming off the Red Sea. Speaking of which, the beach access is legit. It’s not one of those “5-minute walk” situations that turns into a 15-minute hike through construction sites. The coral reef right offshore is honestly spectacular – I saw more fish in one snorkeling session than I did at some of the more famous spots further north. The dive center on-site knows their stuff too, which matters when you’re dealing with Red Sea currents.

Staff-wise, they seem to actually remember your name after day two, which is rarer than it should be. The restaurant gets busy around 7 PM (everyone eats late here), but the kitchen handles the rush pretty well. I’d skip the international dishes and stick with the Egyptian specialties – their koshari is legitimately good, and the grilled fish comes straight from local boats. One small thing that impressed me: they have proper espresso, not just instant coffee pretending to be cappuccino.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned for day trips to Luxor if you’re into ancient history, but honestly, there’s enough happening right here that you won’t feel restless. The nearby marina has some decent restaurants if you want to venture out, and taxi drivers actually know where this place is (trust me, that’s not always a given). With an 8.3 rating, it’s clearly doing something right – and after spending a week here, I get why people keep coming back. It’s that sweet spot of being comfortable without being stuffy, well-located without being in the thick of tourist madness.

  • Mostafaapdo78 from Egypt – 15 June 2025 (9/10)

My recent stay at Mercure Hotel was absolutely delightful. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the front desk was always helpful with any questions I had. My room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with a comfortable bed and a stunning view and The beach is sandy and clean

  • Roman from Slovakia – 28 April 2025 (9/10)

windsurf station, socker field in the centre, latino dancing animation, pool for swimming

What could be improved: birds during eating outside, not enough sunbedss on the beach or near the pool, dirty beach outside the resort, The windsurfing station (which is part of the resort and not the hotel) has too little wing foil equipment, which is of poor quality and outdated (which was a big minus, as we were there to wing foil)

  • Seda from Turkey – 6 April 2025 (8/10)

Family room at a satisfying size, comfortable. All in option was more than enough, we even did not have lunch as we were quite full after great breakfast and snacks were enough in the afternoon. Also dinner was great. There were sunbeds enough for all at the beach and the sea was wonderful indeed. The location was good, so close to the airport, also shopping mall and marina was about 20 minutes away by taxi

What could be improved: Reception staff.
We couldn't get along with the staff at the reception. I requested a late check-out, and the sign said it was 35 USD, but when they checked the system for my room number, they told me it was 45 USD for our room, which I confirmed and paid. When it was time for us to check out and return the keys, they said the actual fee was 55 USD and that their colleague had given me the wrong information, so they asked for the difference. We argued about this for a long time. Of course, I didn't accept this surprise charge that was added later; it's not about the 10 USD, the issue is that this mistake could have been 100 USD, and that's a different topic. I can't tolerate such incompetence. If you make a mistake, you compensate it internally, and especially for such a small amount, you can’t stress your guest out at the last minute. They even went so far as to question where the towel cards were, not seeing the ones we handed in, as if their goal was to create an issue. I couldn't imagine such behavior from Accor Group, which is my preferred choice for every holiday."

  • Alan from United Kingdom – 16 February 2025 (9/10)

    Clean and spacious

What could be improved: Not a lot of seating in the main bar area

  • Jon from United Kingdom – 3 January 2025 (8/10)

    Great staff
    Amazing food choices
Got upgraded to a really since suite room
    Clean
Good range of facilities (gym, mini golf etc)

What could be improved: One of the pools was out of action (a smaller one)

  • Daniel from United Kingdom – 30 November 2024 (9/10)

The room was clean and functional. I really liked the fact that the beach was easily accessible and that there were enough sun beds for all guests. The pool area is also nice. Finally, the resort is very well maintained (the garden is green) and there are a couple of shops in case of small needs (e.g., water, pharmacy, etc.)

What could be improved: The food is quite bad – overall bland and not particularly inspiring. The gym should be much bigger for a resort of this size. And I wonder whether the water of the pool or the sea may be contaminated. I got food poisoning which I cannot ascribe to anything but the pool or the sea – in fact I drank bottled water (and nothing else), ate only cooked food (never raw veggies or undercooked stuff), I brushed my teeth with bottled water, and showered with my mouth closed. Odd.

  • Zeynep from United States – 28 November 2024 (9/10)

    Overall good.

What could be improved: Receptionist was skeptical about the towel card in the check out which made us feel uncomfortable.

  • Mariam from United States – 11 November 2024 (8/10)

The place was great, warm welcoming from the reception
The buffet was great despite not the huge variety of the daily food provided but a huge effort has been placed.
Rooms location, vibes, activities over the beach. The hotel is great for a great small visit to Hurghada.
The hotel is in secure area which is great for tourist but not good for someone want to enjoy the vibes of the city if needed,

What could be improved: NO Day use is offered or allowed for any of our guests or friends.
NO wifi is available in the rooms and only in the bar and reception area which wasn't in the description for me.
    Small bathroom,

  • Sasha from United Kingdom – 10 November 2024 (8/10)

Lovely beach location, all staff so friendly and happy to help from reception through to gardeners.
Tasha Roza and Bunny from the entertainment team were amazing.
On arrival we were welcomed and instantly given Ultra all inclusive unexpected but very nice.
Bottles of water brought to our room every morning.
    House keeping was great.
Restaurant staff all so happy to help
Bar staff so helpful, ultra bar staff fantastic
    All round a great holiday

What could be improved: The evening shows do need to be better, the entertainment staff work so hard, Mercure as a hotel need to invest more into the outside entertainment that they have come to the hotel, it’s okay but not the best..
The food hall gets very busy and the noise levels are high so those with sensory issues will find it difficult as I did.

  • Walid from Egypt – 15 October 2024 (9/10)

All the hotel is very good, Mr. Mostafa FO manager &his team were fantastic , the beach was amazing & pools was very good
