Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places along the Red Sea coast, but Mesca Chalet at Soma Bay honestly caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place and just hope it’ll be decent? Well, this chalet on the first high floor (16D, if you’re keeping track) actually delivers on what those glossy photos promise. The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone put real thought into the space – it’s not just another cookie-cutter resort unit.

What really gets me about this place is the location within Soma Bay itself. I mean, you’re basically getting the best of both worlds here. Soma Bay has this reputation for being more upscale and less chaotic than central Hurghada, and honestly, that reputation is well-deserved. The chalet sits high enough that you get these sweeping views of the Red Sea without the ground-floor noise that can drive you crazy at other resorts. The whole area feels more… I don’t know, planned? Like they actually thought about how to build a resort town instead of just throwing hotels everywhere. You can walk to the marina without dodging crazy traffic, and there are these well-maintained paths that connect everything – small details, but they matter when you’re trying to relax.

The chalet itself punches way above its weight for a 4-star place. That 9.6 rating isn’t just people being generous – the attention to detail is genuinely impressive. The kitchen is actually functional (shocking, I know), the air conditioning works without sounding like a jet engine, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like at so many Egyptian resorts. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Being on the higher floor means you’re above most of the pool chatter and restaurant noise, but you’re not so high up that you feel disconnected from everything. During the day, you’ve got easy access to Soma Bay’s beaches – and let me tell you, the snorkeling here is phenomenal. The coral reefs are in much better shape than what you’ll find closer to Hurghada’s main hotel strip. I actually saw more fish in one afternoon here than during my entire last trip to Sharm. The staff at the resort complex knows their stuff too – they’ll point you toward the better dive spots and actually know which restaurants are worth your time. It’s that kind of local knowledge that makes a difference between a good trip and a great one.

  It was clean and tidy. The owner was very polite and helpful. He made sure that I had a pleasant stay. Previously I tried most of the hotels in SomaBay, but this choice has the best value for money.

  The location is very convenient to our kitesurfing school. There are also golf taxis to go around.

  It was really an exceptional wonderful surprise, a jewel within a jewel. The apartment is a state of the art, modern, comfortable, and impeccable taste. The host was welcoming and outgoing to provide and meet any of our requests. I wouldn't go anywhere else when visiting Somabay this little paradise on the Red Sea.. The view from the apartment was amazing, uncovering the whole bay, and you could appreciate both Sunrise and sunset from the amazing balcony.
