Minaland Beach Resort & Aquapark Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of Red Sea resorts, but Minaland Beach Resort really caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When you’re driving down Sahl Hashish Road (and honestly, most people don’t even know this area exists), you’ll spot it tucked away from the main Hurghada chaos, which is actually perfect. The whole Sahl Hashish strip is where the locals go when they want to avoid the tourist madness of Sheraton Road, if you know what I mean.
The aquapark here is what initially drew me in – I mean, my kids were obsessed with the idea – but it’s actually the little things that made our stay memorable. The beach access is genuine, not one of those fake lagoon setups, and you can walk straight onto proper sand without dodging a million lounge chairs. Water’s crystal clear, and here’s something most people don’t mention: the snorkeling right off the beach is surprisingly decent. I spotted some colorful fish without even trying, though don’t expect Sharm-level coral (nothing really compares to that). The pool area gets busy around 11 AM when families start filtering down, but early morning? It’s almost meditative with just the sound of water features and maybe a few serious swimmers doing laps.
What really sets this place apart is how it feels… well, not trying too hard. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there – our room service guy Ahmed actually remembered our coffee preferences after day two, which sounds small but made such a difference. Speaking of rooms, ours faced the gardens rather than the sea (honestly, I prefer it – quieter at night and you still get that resort vibe without the constant wind). The air conditioning actually works properly, which after some experiences in Egyptian hotels, I never take for granted anymore. Food-wise, breakfast has this amazing fresh bread station where they’re constantly baking, and the smell hits you the moment you walk into the restaurant. Dinner buffet is solid – not groundbreaking, but they do a mean grilled fish and the dessert selection had my sweet tooth very happy.
Here’s the thing about the location that most reviews miss: you’re about twenty minutes from Hurghada’s main action, but that’s perfect. Close enough for a quick taxi ride to the marina or old town (expect to pay around 50-80 EGP), but far enough that you’re not dealing with the constant noise and hustle. The resort runs a shuttle service too, though I’d recommend confirming times because Egyptian schedules can be… flexible.
The rating of 9 honestly makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point. It’s not trying to be a luxury palace, but it delivers exactly what a good 4-star should: comfort, genuine hospitality, and that relaxed Red Sea vibe without the pretentiousness. My only minor gripe? The WiFi in the pool area is spotty, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise. Sometimes you need to actually disconnect, you know?
