The apartment itself is honestly exactly what it says on the tin: modern, clean, and way more spacious than those cramped hotel rooms you usually get for the same price in Hurghada.

I’ll be straight with you – the location is pretty solid if you know El Gouna at all. Ancient Sands isn’t right on the marina where all the fancy restaurants are, but that’s actually kind of perfect because you get better value and you’re still just a quick tuk-tuk ride (or honestly, a pleasant walk if the weather’s cooperating) to downtown El Gouna. The apartment comes with everything you’d need for a proper stay – the kitchen’s small but functional, which is clutch when you want to grab groceries from Abu Tig Marina and make breakfast instead of paying resort prices every morning. The bedroom gets good airflow, and the AC actually works properly, which… well, if you’ve stayed in Egypt before, you know that’s not always a given.

What really sold me on recommending this place is how the owner clearly gets what travelers actually need. There’s proper wifi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes, the hot water is consistent, and the building itself feels secure without being overly fussy about access. The whole Ancient Sands development has this laid-back vibe – it’s not trying to be the fanciest spot in El Gouna, but everything just works. Plus, you’re close enough to the lagoons for morning walks, and if you’re into kitesurfing or diving, the spots everyone talks about are totally accessible from here. I stayed during shoulder season in October and honestly had zero complaints – the place was spotless, check-in was smooth, and when I had a question about the best way to get to Orange Bay, the host actually gave me insider tips instead of just pointing me toward the expensive hotel tours. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference when you’re trying to experience the real Red Sea coast, not just the resort bubble version.
