Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Soma Bay, but this villa completely caught me off guard. The moment you pull up to Wadi Jebal – and honestly, the street’s a bit tricky to find the first time, typical Egyptian addressing – you realize this isn’t your typical hotel situation. It’s actually a proper two-bedroom villa that feels more like borrowing a friend’s vacation home than staying at some impersonal resort.
The sea views are legit, I mean really legit. From the main living area, you’re looking straight out over the Red Sea, and depending on the time of day, the water shifts from this deep turquoise to almost emerald green. What really sold me though was having both the beach and pool access – because let’s be honest, sometimes the Red Sea can get a bit choppy, especially during the windier months around December and January. The pool becomes your backup plan, and it’s actually nicer than some 5-star hotel pools I’ve used. The villa itself feels surprisingly spacious for two bedrooms; the living area doesn’t feel cramped even when you’ve got beach gear scattered everywhere (which, if you’re like me, happens within about an hour of arriving).
Here’s the thing about Soma Bay that a lot of people don’t realize – it’s this sort of manufactured resort peninsula about 45 minutes south of Hurghada proper, so you’re getting that pristine, planned-community vibe without the chaos of central Hurghada. The downside? You’re pretty much committed to staying in the area for meals and activities, but honestly, that’s not terrible. The villa’s kitchen is actually functional – I mean, you can cook real meals, not just heat up instant noodles – which saves you from resort restaurant prices every single night. And the Wi-Fi, surprisingly, works consistently well even in the bedrooms, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed along the Red Sea coast.
The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not luxury in the marble-and-gold sense, but it’s that kind of comfortable, well-thought-out space where everything just works. The air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, the shower has decent water pressure, and you’re not fighting with key cards that stop working every other day. Plus, being right on Soma Bay means you’re walking distance to some genuinely excellent diving and snorkeling spots – the house reef here is actually better than a lot of the boat trips they’ll try to sell you in Hurghada. If you’re planning to visit, I’d honestly recommend staying at least four or five days to really settle in and explore the area properly.
