Walking into El Gouna feels like someone dropped a Mediterranean village into the Egyptian desert – and this townhouse sits right in the sweet spot where you get the best of both worlds. I mean, when they say “lagoon and pool,” they’re not kidding around. The lagoon literally wraps around part of the property, and honestly, watching the sun hit that turquoise water in the morning while you’re having coffee on the terrace… it’s one of those moments that makes you forget to check your phone.

The townhouse itself is pretty cleverly laid out – three bedrooms that actually feel spacious (not those cramped European “bedrooms” that barely fit a suitcase), and the living area opens right onto the pool area. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re close enough to Marina Boulevard that you can walk to dinner without calling a taxi. The kitchen’s well-stocked too, which matters if you’re staying more than a couple nights – there’s a Spinney’s nearby for groceries, though honestly, with all the restaurants in El Gouna, you might not cook much. The AC works like a dream, which is crucial because even in winter, midday heat can surprise you.

Here’s the thing about El Gouna that took me a while to figure out – it operates on resort time, meaning everything’s a bit more relaxed than mainland Hurghada. Check-in was smooth, parking’s right there (trust me, this matters when you’re hauling luggage in 35-degree heat), and the property management actually responds to messages. I stayed during shoulder season in March, and while the town wasn’t packed, there was still enough happening that restaurants were open and the marina had some energy. The pool gets perfect afternoon sun, and the lagoon’s great for a quick dip when you want something that feels more… natural, I guess? Just watch out for the occasional fish – they’re harmless but can startle you if you’re not expecting them. The whole setup really works if you want to feel like you’re staying in someone’s actual home rather than a hotel box, and that 9.4 rating makes sense once you’ve been there a few days.
