Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Nubian Lagoon on El Gouna 2 Road, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes these mid-range spots surprise you, and this one actually grew on me over the few days I spent there.

The thing about El Gouna is that it’s this sort of artificial resort town built right into the Red Sea coast, and the Nubian Lagoon sits in a decent spot where you can actually walk to some of the lagoons without needing to hop on one of those little tuk-tuks every five minutes. The hotel itself has this laid-back vibe that works well if you’re not looking for anything too fancy – I mean, the lobby’s got these colorful fish tanks and local artwork that feels more authentic than the cookie-cutter resort aesthetic you see everywhere else around Hurghada. Check-in was smooth enough, though the WiFi in my room was honestly pretty spotty (worked fine in the common areas, though). The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing spectacular but definitely not shabby either. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the main party areas in El Gouna that you can actually sleep, but close enough that a short walk or cheap taxi ride gets you to Abu Tig Marina when you want some nightlife.

Here’s what really made the difference for me: the staff genuinely seemed to know the area well, and they pointed me toward some local spots I never would’ve found otherwise. There’s this little coffee place about ten minutes away where locals actually hang out, and the guy at reception told me exactly when to hit the nearby dive shops for the best prices on Red Sea trips. The hotel’s pool area is pretty chill during the day – not huge, but it doesn’t get crazy crowded like some of the bigger resorts. And honestly, the breakfast spread was better than I expected; nothing gourmet, but fresh bread, decent coffee, and they had these local cheese and honey combinations that hit the spot. The location means you’re getting that El Gouna experience without paying El Gouna resort prices, if that makes sense. Sure, the paint’s a bit worn in places and the elevator makes some interesting sounds, but for what you’re paying, it’s solid value. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to spend most of my time exploring the Red Sea or wandering around the lagoons rather than lounging at the hotel all day.

  Everything was really easy going and the owner offered help with everything, transportation, changing towels, sheets and and so on.
  It's a nice appartmennt in Upper Nubia with balconie, big living room with big TV, fast Internet. Upper Nubia felt save, as there are guards as well. It's just a 5 minute walk to the marina, were all the restaurants are and were the nightlife is. In the appartmennt it self it is quite. We would come again.

  Great location, a couple of minutes away from a supermarket. 14 mins walk to downtown, or 5 mins by tuk-tuk for a fixed price of 35 EGP. tuk-tuk is parked across the road.

  Can swim in the lagoon but we preferred to go to Zeytouna beach.

  What could be improved: The apartment is adequate but needed some TLC, like crockery updating.
  There are some basic things you should buy like sponge for dishes / shower gel / shampoo. we were ok with that as it doesn’t cost much in the supermarket.

  What could be improved: On 22.08, I had to postpone my first reservation date due to the change of my work plan. Although the landlord was not very willing, she agreed when I said that we would have the possibility of extension.
  Our request for early check-in was accepted without any extra charge and I checked in with my family at 09:00 a.m. The next day I paid 1 more night at the booking.com price. Afterwards I asked for 4 more nights and a more discounted price, but the landlord (50.-USD/per day) refused. After 2 nights stay, when I told her that we would leave and we found another cheaper place, the landlord immediately reduced the price to 50.-USD, but we had to leave because we had promised. Then she was very aggressive and demanded that we must pay for early check-in. They will definitely not accept this, but I still keep my messages as our conversations were made via whatapp.
  The house where we stayed in had a cleaning problem. Bathroom, kitchen, kitchen utensils were very dirty and poor quality products. There were used, dirty hand soap, empty shampoo boxes in the bathroom. There were no hand & bath towels.
  The balcony was so dirty that we could use it after cleaning it ourselves. Mangroovy Villas, where we stayed next, was much cheaper, quality and clean. Businesses that do not take their business seriously in this way should not be included in a serious booking network such as booking.com.

  Die Lage der Unterkunft ist super; Downtown und Hafen ist fussläufig (5 min.) zu erreichen; Zentrale Lage.
  Der Vermieter antwortet schnell und ist gut über WhatsApp zu erreichen.
  
  Haustiere sind erlaubt! Es gibt viele Möglichkeiten für den Hundegang im Upper Nubian. Das ist toll.
  
  What could be improved: Das Apartment ist deutlich in die Jahre gekommen und bedarf dringend einer Renovierung. Alles war irgendwie alt und verbraucht. Das (Plastik-) Geschirr in der Küche war nicht sauber (eher ranzig) und nur eine Basisausstattung. Das Nudelsieb war kaputt und rostig.
  Der Kühlschrank war nicht sauber und wir haben ihn erstmal sauber gemacht. Gleiches gilt für den Ofen.
  
  Es riecht im ganzen Apartment muffig (und da helfen auch keine vom Vermieter aufgestellte Duftstäbe) und verraucht (obwohl rauchen in der Wohnung verboten ist).
  Das zweite Zimmer (mit Hochbett) ist eine mit Schiebetür (die laut knarschte und nur sehr schwer zu bewegen ist) abgetrennter Flurbereich und bietet keinen Platz. Das Schlafzimmerbett ist super hart und quietscht bei jeder Bewegung sehr laut. Das Bettzeug war muffig und "feucht".
  Die Beleuchtung ist diffus und nicht alle Lampen funktionieren.
  
  Es fehlt ein Esstisch in der Wohnung. Lediglich auf dem Balkon ist ein Tisch vorhanden. Im Wohnzimmer steht ein Couchtisch, der ungeeignet ist, da die Halterungen nicht mehr richtig funktionieren bzw. defekt sind.
  Ein Sonnenschutz auf dem Balkon (Sonnensegel oder Gardine) fehlt, dh man sitzt bei der Ausrichtung des Balkons den ganzen Tag in der Sonne.
  Der Balkon war auch verdreckt und eingestaubt.
  
  Das Bad war sauber, hat aber kein Fenster oder keine Lüftung.
  
  Der Vermieter antwortet zwar schnell auf Nachrichten, aber irgendwie nicht zielführend. Das kaputte Sieb wurde nicht ausgetauscht oder weiter Tassen gebracht. Es folgt in der Kommunikation lediglich die Aufforderung eine List zu erstellen, was fehle und dann würde jemand es bringen.
  
  Die "Sonnenliegen mit Auflage" stehen verdreckt (Liege und Auflagen) neben der Eingangstür. Die Möbel auf dem Balkon sind alle eingestaubt.
  
  Das Apartment hat sicherlich Scham und eine super Lage, es muss halt dringend mal gereinigt oder renoviert werden und vielleicht sollten die Möbel mal getauscht werden.
