So I stumbled across Ollystays Mangroovy Seaview while hunting for something decent in El Gouna that wouldn’t break the bank, and honestly? It turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises you don’t expect from a 4-star place. The name’s a bit quirky – I mean, “Mangroovy” sounds like something a marketing intern dreamed up after too much coffee – but the location on Kite Center Road is actually perfect if you know El Gouna at all. You’re basically a stone’s throw from all the kitesurfing action (hence the street name), but far enough back that you won’t have windsurfers setting up at dawn right outside your window.

The 3-bedroom setup is genuinely spacious, which is refreshing because hotel photos lie about 90% of the time. You know what struck me? The seaview they promise is actually there – not some sliver of blue you need binoculars to spot. The pool access thing is nice too, though I’ll be honest, the pool gets pretty busy during peak season when all the German and Italian families descend on El Gouna (which is basically November through March). The beach access is the real winner here – you can walk down to the water without dealing with the crowds at the main hotel strips closer to the marina. It’s one of those stretches where locals actually hang out, so you get a better feel for the place rather than just tourist central.

Check-in was surprisingly smooth, though the staff’s English gets a bit spotty in the evenings when the day shift leaves. Nothing major, just be patient if you’re arriving late. The whole complex has this laid-back vibe that fits El Gouna perfectly – it’s not trying to be some flashy resort, just a solid place to crash between diving trips or kitesurfing sessions. The 7.7 rating seems about right honestly; it’s good without being spectacular. A few minor things – the WiFi can be temperamental (classic Egypt), and the air conditioning units are a bit loud, but that’s pretty standard for this price range. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. El Gouna can get surprisingly rowdy near the town center, but this spot lets you actually sleep. If you’re planning to explore the Red Sea properly or just want a base that feels more like a local neighborhood than a tourist bubble, this place delivers without any pretense.

  It was very well furnished and everything I would think of, was there.
  The view on the pool is so good and the access was more than easy to the pool and beach.
  The cleanliness was superb.
  The bedrooms were like suites, 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms and all have good views.
  
  What could be improved: We had an issue with opening the door by the key at the beginning but the staff was helpful and repaired it quickly.

  Modern and cozy apartment, huge pool, close to the sea, supermarket around the corner, super support from the host, very large amount of free water, large fridge, washing machine, digital door lock, large closets, comfortable beds, enough pots and pans, kite school 5mins by foot

  What could be improved: no toaster, no dishwasher although it is in the equipment list, air conditioning always had to run otherwise it smelled musty, both sides of pool patio door so stiff that you could almost not open them, dishes and cups just enough, one shower drain clogged, no bedside lamps, no wifi in the bedroom, no sun protection on the terrace, no bright light on the terrace, lots of flies and mosquitoes, it is forbidden to put the clothes horse in the sun in your own garden, loud bass noise from the beach restaurant from noon every day, very loud music several times at night due to nearby wedding locations, difficult for tuxis to find, big construction works all around

  What could be improved: Was not able to access villa. Was on the phone for hours with property manager to get in. There are no check in instructions and staff and owner decided to sleep knowing we would not have access to facilities without sharing our passport information. Owner was somewhat understanding but didn't not put in much effort to remedy waiting at the gate until 4-5am. Ended up walking to villa from street to pass security. No where is accomodation advertised as private residence and booking says there is a 24 hour front desk. Property manager was very rude and tried to blame us for the experience. Overall they need a better system of checking in guest. If they are not able to get guest to room then they should not accept booking.

  The owners and managers were very friendly and contacted us before we arrived. They took our last review seriously and really rectified any shortcomings. Many thanks for that.
  
  There is now actually a dishwasher, a toaster, WIFI repeater in every room, a huge parasol on the terrace and enough glasses and cups. The air conditioning has also been serviced. The patio door was repaired and was easy to use again. The apartment was also made prettier with a few real plants. The large wedding location on the beach was torn down. This made it less noisy at night.

  What could be improved: Unfortunately, the dishwasher was not new. Somehow the mechanism for the dishwasher tab was defective. We then simply added the tab directly to the dishes. In addition, there was always a pump error that caused the dishwashing process to stop. We cleared the blockage and then the dishwasher ran again.
  
  Unfortunately, other guests had probably fed a street cat in the past. It came to the front door or patio door every day and meowed very loudly. It also got its claws into the fly screen. You always had to shoo her away so that she didn't destroy the fly screen. Otherwise there was really nothing to complain about this time and therefore fully deserved 10/10.

  Die Lage zu den Kite Zentren ist hervorragend und die Ferienwohnung ist wunderbar geschnitten und groß genug um mit 5 Personen einen entspannten Urlaub zu haben.
