Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in El Gouna, but this villa on Sholan really surprised me. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, I could actually live here”? That’s exactly what happened when I first stepped through the door of this three-bedroom spot. The private heated pool – and I mean actually heated, not just lukewarm like some places promise – sits right there waiting for you, which honestly became my office for the week since the WiFi reaches poolside perfectly.

What I love about Villa A5 is how it sits in this quieter pocket of El Gouna where you’re not dealing with the main tourist chaos, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. The Sholan area has this residential vibe that most visitors never discover – you’ll see Egyptian families out for evening walks, kids playing football in the small parks nearby. It’s real life, not resort bubble stuff. The villa itself feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in typical vacation rental. The kitchen actually has proper knives and decent pots (you’d be amazed how rare that is), and there’s this huge dining table where we ended up playing cards every night because the lighting is just right and the AC keeps things comfortable without being arctic.

Here’s the thing about El Gouna that most people don’t realize – it gets pretty quiet after 10 PM except for the main marina area, so this villa gives you the best of both worlds. You can walk to the lagoon in about eight minutes if you know the shortcut through the small alley behind the community center, or grab a tuk-tuk to downtown for about 15 Egyptian pounds. The heated pool becomes absolutely magical around sunset when the Red Sea mountains start glowing in the distance – I mean, the photos don’t do it justice. We had the pool lights on most evenings and it created this whole ambiance that made even simple dinners feel special. The bedrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into each other, and honestly, the air conditioning works better than my apartment back home. One small thing – the shower pressure is fantastic, which might sound silly but after a day of snorkeling or kite surfing, it makes all the difference. The villa’s got this perfect setup where you can rinse off the salt and sand, then slip right into that warm pool without tracking anything through the house.
