Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first pulled up to Pharaoh Azur Resort on the Safaga Road, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how some 4-star places can be hit or miss in Hurghada. But this one actually surprised me in the best way possible. The whole Egyptian pharaoh theme could’ve easily gone cheesy, but they managed to pull it off without making you feel like you’re stuck in a Vegas casino.

What really got me was the location – I mean, you’re far enough from the chaos of central Hurghada to actually hear yourself think, but close enough that you can still grab a taxi into town when you want some proper Egyptian street food (trust me, the hotel food is good, but you haven’t lived until you’ve had koshari from one of those tiny places near the old market). The Red Sea views from most rooms are genuinely spectacular, especially around sunset when the water turns this incredible shade of turquoise that photos never quite capture. And here’s something the booking sites don’t tell you – the snorkeling right off their beach is actually decent. Not world-class like some of the boat trips you can take, but good enough that you don’t feel like you’re wasting your time if you just want to float around for an hour.

The staff here really makes the difference though. Check-in was smooth – no weird hidden fees or passport drama that sometimes happens at Egyptian hotels. The guys at the dive center know their stuff and won’t oversell you on equipment you don’t need, which I appreciated. Pool area gets pretty lively during peak season (basically October through April), but if you’re looking for quiet, there are these little tucked-away spots near the gardens where you can actually read a book without someone’s kids cannonballing nearby. One small thing that bugged me – the WiFi in some rooms is sort of spotty, so if you’re planning to work remotely, maybe ask for a room closer to the lobby when you check in. But honestly, being a bit disconnected isn’t the worst thing when you’re watching the sunrise over the Red Sea with a decent cup of coffee. The whole place has this relaxed vibe that somehow balances being comfortable for families while not making solo travelers or couples feel out of place. For what you pay, especially compared to some of the more touristy resorts closer to Hurghada center, it’s really solid value.

A wonderful place with an exceptional and very cooperative staff. The cleanliness is excellent, the food is outstanding, and the rooms are new and beautiful. I thank all the staff, especially Mr. Pola and Mr Mohamed sabry
    at the reception.

  • Martin from United Kingdom – 14 June 2025 (8/10)

Amazing food, all clean, great staff

  • Helal from Egypt – 4 June 2025 (9/10)

I liked that the property was too large and it overwhelming plus there were shuttle and golf cart available to help get around. We stayed in a bungalow apartment style and it was so welcoming and comfortable- felt like home. The staff here at Pharaoh Azur resort were so friendly, welcoming and easy going. It made our stay so much better! We felt at ease and comfortable because of the staff and they seemed to be relaxed enough to speak with all the guests no matter what language they spoke. Everyone was extremely accommodating, any assistance, questions or help we needed it was addressed immediately. We were very satisfied with our stay.

What could be improved: Most of the food was delicious and the variety of options was very helpful. At times it was difficult to find something for my youngest child to eat due to her being particular. But I noticed that with most young children.

    – The staff who work all day all night should be credited first and really appreciated by the management. Professional and kind even after working so many hours every day.
    – The beauty, the desugn of the place. It’s full of nature, grass, flowers and trees and looks absolutely amazing like from a hollywood movie. There’s also a small lake around the bungalows.
    – The bungalow was big and spacious with a beautiful balcony view of the nearby nature.
    – The organized system when checking in and out, with the staff helping you with your luggage, driving you to and from your room.
    – Was kept clean (thank you Mohamed).
    – Good gym.

What could be improved: – The bungalow bedroom bed was old and needs to be updated (Room 544) as it wasnt even, it was higher at the sides and lowest at the center.
    – Super annoying sellers within the resort who try to rip off people with ridiculously high prices and fake products such as the perfumes being fake and useless yet being sold at high prices.
It’s great to have massage and other similar services but it’s very low class to have them be pushy with the guests. This doesnt allow you to have peace when you have sellers walking around and offering you everything, the guests come for a few days on vacation to chill and this is very disturbing to the peace and privacy. They also flirt with women.
    – Sometimes really very limited plant-based (vegan) options. For non-vegan options there’s always good protein meals like different meats, but for vegans sometimes it is such a big miss. There should regularly be protein-rich vegan basic foods such as tofu, lentils, beans, chickpeas and definitely more fruit should be available instead of just bananas and peaches or just watermelon. It’s hot and people need to have watery food to refresh, such as fruits. The weaker options are especially seen at the beach restaurant for lunch.
    – Cringe night animation programs forcing interaction with the audience (though sometimes the shows were great like the fireshow, the Arabian dance, and the knifes throwing event).
    – Super slow internet at around 1.5 mbps, plus if you want internet in the room you have to pay 25 Euros for one week. Pro tip: get the cheapest vodafone sim card and top it up by yourself online to avoid being ripped off by locals who will overcharge 5x.

Regardless of these negative notes, the resort remains beautiful and I would visit again if I ever come back to Egypt. But if these notes are taken care of, then the resort will easily be 10/10.

What could be improved: Slightly far from downtown. Would like to see additional food and beverages outlets.
