You know what really struck me about Pickalbatros Palace when I first pulled up? It’s this massive complex about 15 minutes south of central Hurghada on the Safaga Road – and I mean massive in the best way possible. The entrance feels grand without being pretentious, which honestly sets the tone for the whole experience. I’ve stayed at plenty of Red Sea resorts, and this one just gets the balance right between impressive and welcoming.

The aqua park is absolutely the star here, and I’m not even usually a water slide person. But these slides are legitimately fun – not those tiny kiddie ones you sometimes get at hotels trying to check a box. The wave pool actually creates decent waves, and there’s this lazy river that’s perfect for floating around with a drink (which, let me tell you, becomes your afternoon routine pretty quickly). What I really appreciated was how they’ve spread everything out so it doesn’t feel crowded, even when the place is busy. The pools have different vibes too – there’s the party pool where the animation team gets everyone going, and quieter spots where you can actually read a book without someone splashing you every five minutes.

The rooms are solid – I mean, really solid for a resort this size. Clean, comfortable beds, and the AC works like a dream, which matters more than you’d think in Hurghada’s heat. The balcony views vary depending on where they put you, but honestly, even the garden view rooms are pleasant because the landscaping is actually well-maintained. Food-wise, the main buffet has that international spread you’d expect, but they do a surprisingly good job with the Egyptian dishes – the koshari is legit, and they make fresh bread that’s worth the carbs. The Italian restaurant needs reservations, but it’s worth booking ahead because the pasta is much better than your typical resort Italian food.

Location-wise, you’re a bit removed from the Hurghada Marina and old town, but that’s actually a plus if you want to relax without the hustle. There are local shops and restaurants within walking distance if you want to venture out – the little place across the road does excellent grilled fish, and the prices are about a third of what you’d pay at the resort. The hotel runs shuttles to the main shopping areas, though the schedule can be a bit unpredictable. Beach access is direct, and while it’s not the most pristine stretch of Red Sea coast, it’s perfectly nice for swimming and the snorkeling right off the shore is decent – I saw some colorful fish without having to book an excursion.

What really bumps this place up for me is the staff’s attitude. They’re genuinely helpful without being overbearing, and the housekeeping team does an exceptional job. Check-in was smooth, they helped sort out a minor issue with our room quickly, and the pool bartenders remember your drink after the second day. It’s those little touches that make a 9.4 rating make sense – this isn’t just a well-run resort, it’s a place where you can actually unwind and have fun without constantly managing little annoyances.

  My hotel stay was exceptional, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. My family and I enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The personnel were so kind and helpful; whenever we had requests, they responded and acted quickly. Meal and drink options were satisfactory. The hotel facilities were in excellent condition. The pool, the outside areas, and the beachside were in good shape.
  
  What could be improved: The only suggestion for an improvement is to have a designated taxi or transportation team in the hotel. The present taxis are terrible and full of tourist scams. They charge nearly 10 times higher than the usual price, and all the transportation arrangements are kind of a bargaining battle with each driver.
  
  In addition to that, the quality and type of drinks can be improved.
