So you know how some hotels promise the world and then you show up to find a glorified motel? Well, Pickalbatros White Beach Resort isn’t one of those places. I mean, when you pull up along El Corniche Street – that’s the main coastal road that runs through Hurghada – you immediately get why this place earned its 9.4 rating. The entrance actually feels grand without being pretentious, if that makes sense.

What really got me was the beach situation. Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of Red Sea resorts where “beachfront” means you’re looking at someone else’s beach through a fence, but Pickalbatros has this stretch of white sand that’s actually theirs. The water access is proper too – none of that rocky, ankle-twisting nonsense you sometimes get along this coast. You can walk straight in, which honestly is half the battle in Hurghada. The coral reefs are close enough for decent snorkeling right from the shore, though if you’re serious about diving, the staff can point you toward the better spots a boat ride away. They know their stuff – most of them have been working the Red Sea tourism scene for years.

The rooms are solid (I stayed in one facing the sea, worth the upgrade), but what impressed me more was how they handle the little things. Check-in was smooth even during what looked like a busy week, the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property – not just in the lobby like some places – and they’ve figured out the hot water situation, which can be hit or miss at Egyptian resorts. The pools are well-maintained too, though honestly, with that beach right there, I’m not sure why you’d spend much time poolside. The restaurants serve decent food, nothing revolutionary but way better than the usual resort buffet disaster. They do a good job with both international dishes and local Egyptian specialties – try the seafood if you’re into that, since we’re literally on the Red Sea coast.

One thing worth mentioning: Al Mamsha El Seyahi, where it’s located, is sort of the newer hotel district of Hurghada. It’s quieter than downtown but not isolated – you can grab a taxi or even walk to other restaurants and shops without much hassle. The resort runs shuttles to the main shopping areas too, which is handy since parking in central Hurghada can be… well, let’s just say it’s an adventure. Honestly, the location strikes that sweet spot between being on a beautiful stretch of coast but not feeling cut off from everything else the city offers. After staying here, I get why people keep coming back to this particular resort – it’s the kind of place that actually delivers on what a Red Sea vacation should be.
