Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “British Resort” in the name, I was expecting some kind of stuffy colonial throwback thing. But Pool View Apartments at Unit 13 is actually refreshingly normal, in the best possible way. It’s tucked into the El Kawthar area of Hurghada, which honestly works better than being right in the thick of the tourist madness downtown. You get that perfect sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but far enough away that you’re not hearing drunk Germans singing karaoke at 2 AM (though honestly, that can be entertaining too).

The apartment itself lives up to its name – you actually do get a proper pool view, not some sneaky angle where you can glimpse a corner of blue if you crane your neck just right. I mean, it’s a 3-star place so don’t expect marble countertops or anything, but everything works and it’s clean, which is honestly more than you can say for some of the supposedly fancier places I’ve stayed at along the Red Sea coast. The pool area gets busy around 10 AM when families start claiming their spots, but if you’re an early riser like me, you can have a pretty peaceful coffee situation before the day really kicks off. The kitchen setup is decent enough – I managed to make proper breakfast without wanting to throw anything out the window, which is always a good sign.

What really struck me about this place is how it feels lived-in rather than hotel-sterile, you know? The staff actually remember your name after a day or two, and they’re genuinely helpful about stuff like where to catch the microbus into town (way cheaper than taxis, by the way) or which dive shops won’t try to oversell you on equipment you don’t need. The British Resort complex itself has this sort of low-key community vibe – you’ll see the same faces around the pool, maybe chat with that couple from Manchester about the weather back home. It’s not fancy, but it’s comfortable in that unpretentious way that makes you actually relax instead of feeling like you need to dress up for breakfast. Plus, that 9.1 rating isn’t just marketing fluff – people genuinely seem to leave here happy, probably because it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. If you’re looking for Instagram-perfect luxury, keep scrolling. But if you want a solid base for exploring Hurghada’s diving scene or just lounging by a pool with a book, this place gets the job done properly.

  Was spacious and had a double system of closing the door
  
  What could be improved: It was dirty. The everything was old. The sofa and armchair were gleaming with dirt, I can bet they were never cleaned. We didn’t have any toilet paper on arrival. Only one small towel. The chairs on the balcony were extremely old, almost falling apart. The rack dryer was literally falling apart. The bedroom window was sliding but could hear everything from outside so very disturbing. The walls falling apart as well. Internet was very very poor. Did a speed test and was below 1mb/sec, showing 0…
  So many things to improve.

  Všechno v naprostém pořádku. byl to náš již několikátý pobyt v tomto apartmánu a vše bylo, jak má být. Děkujeme Mohammedovi za asistenci, když jsme měli nějaké otázky a požadavky!

  Die Außenanlage mit Pool ist schön, Personal nett.
  
  What could be improved: Unser Zimmer war sehr Unhygienisch. Die Teppiche sind ekelhaft. Die Vorhänge wurden sicherlich seit Bau nicht gereinigt. Wir hatten Kakerlaken und nix zum sauber machen. Wir haben selber Putzsachen gekauft. Natürlich haben wir es nochmal sauber machen lassen. Aber ausser lufterfrischer habe ich keinen großen Hygiene-Unterschied festgestellt.
  Werden wir nicht wieder buchen.

  What could be improved: Emplacement pas top. Appartement pas très propre, très très viellot. Salle de bain très vieille. Même pas de papier de toilette. Très moyen. J'y ai passe qu'une seule nuit au lieu de 4 et le propriétaire n'a pas voulu rembourser les nuits non utilisés….
