Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the View Compound on Sheraton Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But this little one-bedroom (B101, specifically) actually surprised me in all the right ways. The whole compound sits in this quieter part of Hurghada where you’re not constantly dodging tour buses, and honestly, that made all the difference for my sanity.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – nothing fancy, but everything works, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in Egypt. What really sold me was stepping onto that balcony and seeing the pool area spread out below. I mean, it’s not the Red Sea, but there’s something nice about having coffee in the morning while watching kids splash around and families actually enjoying themselves. The bedroom gets decent light without being too bright (those Egyptian mornings can be brutal), and the air conditioning – thank god – actually keeps up with the heat. I stayed there in August, so trust me, this matters. The kitchen area is small but functional if you want to grab groceries from the Carrefour down the road instead of eating out every meal.

You know what I appreciated most? The compound itself feels like where actual people live, not just a tourist bubble. There’s a little café near the entrance where locals grab breakfast, and the security guys are genuinely friendly – not just going through the motions. Parking was never an issue, which anyone who’s driven in Hurghada will tell you is a minor miracle. The location puts you maybe 15 minutes from the marina area if you want the touristy restaurants, but you’re also close enough to venture into the more authentic parts of town without it being a whole expedition. The pool area gets busy around 2-3 PM when families come down to escape the afternoon heat, but mornings and evenings are pretty peaceful. Only real downside I noticed was that the wifi can be spotty in the evening – probably everyone in the compound streaming at once – but it’s fine for checking messages and basic stuff. For what you pay and what you get, especially with that pool view and the relatively quiet location, it’s actually a solid choice if you want to experience Hurghada without breaking the bank or dealing with massive resort crowds.
