You know what? Princess Resort 343 surprised me. I’ll be honest – when I first rolled up to this place in Hurghada, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot. But sometimes you stumble onto these gems that just get the basics really, really right.

The thing about this hotel is that it feels like it’s actually run by people who care, which isn’t always a given in resort towns like Hurghada. Check-in was smooth (thank god, because I’d been traveling for like 14 hours), and the lobby has this relaxed vibe – not trying too hard to be fancy, just clean and welcoming. The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests, not just going through the motions. My room was on the third floor, and honestly, it had everything I needed without any of the pretentious stuff you sometimes get at pricier places. The AC worked perfectly – and trust me, in Hurghada’s heat, that’s not negotiable. The bed was comfortable enough that I actually slept well, which is saying something because I’m usually a terrible hotel sleeper.

What really won me over was the location and how the hotel handles the whole Red Sea experience. You’re close enough to the main hotel strip that you can walk to restaurants and dive shops (there’s this great little place called Moby Dick just down the road – locals swear by their seafood), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with constant noise from the party hotels. The pool area gets busy around midday when families are hanging out, but early morning and late afternoon it’s perfect for just floating around with a book. The restaurant serves decent Egyptian breakfast – I mean, it’s not going to change your life, but the fresh bread and local cheese hit the spot, and they make proper strong coffee. Evening meals are sort of hit or miss depending on what they’re featuring, but honestly, with all the great local spots within walking distance, I ended up eating out most nights anyway.

Here’s the thing that really sealed it for me – the hotel helps arrange diving and snorkeling trips without being pushy about it, and they actually recommend reputable operators instead of just whoever gives them the biggest kickback. The front desk guy (I think his name was Ahmed?) spent like twenty minutes explaining which reefs were worth visiting and which dive shops to avoid. That kind of local knowledge is gold when you’re trying to make the most of your time. The WiFi works well enough for staying in touch back home, parking is easy if you rent a car, and the whole place just has this relaxed, no-drama atmosphere. It’s not luxury, but it’s solid and reliable – exactly what you want when you’re more interested in exploring the incredible underwater world off Hurghada than lounging around a hotel all day.
