So I ended up at Relaxing time in Makadi Heights kind of by accident – you know how it is when your original booking falls through and you’re scrambling for something decent along the Hurghada-Safaga stretch. Honestly? I was pleasantly surprised. The place sits right off that main coastal road, which means you’re getting some traffic noise during the day, but once the sun goes down it actually gets pretty quiet. The whole Makadi Heights area is sort of this middle ground between the crazy tourist chaos of central Hurghada and the more remote resort strips – you get the best of both worlds without feeling completely isolated.

What really struck me about this place is how the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work. I mean, it’s a 3-star property so you’re not expecting marble bathrooms and champagne service, but the little touches matter. The front desk guy (I think his name was Ahmed) actually remembered my coffee preference by day three, and when I mentioned I was having trouble finding decent snorkeling spots that weren’t completely overrun with tour groups, he drew me this hand-sketched map to a couple of local reefs. The rooms are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but the AC works properly (crucial in that heat), and the beds are actually comfortable. You’ll want to bring your own beach towels though, because the pool towel situation is a bit hit-or-miss.

The real gem here is the location for exploring the Red Sea coast without breaking the bank. You’re about twenty minutes from some really solid diving spots, and if you rent a car (which I’d recommend), you can easily hit up the local markets in Hurghada proper or drive south toward Safaga for some of the less touristy beaches. The hotel’s pool area gets decent afternoon shade, which is honestly a lifesaver around 2 PM when the sun is just brutal. Breakfast is pretty standard Egyptian hotel fare – think fresh bread, local cheese, some fruit, decent coffee – but they do this really good ful medames that most tourist places skip. Just don’t expect a huge variety if you’re staying more than a few days. The WiFi works well in the lobby and restaurant area, gets a bit spotty in some of the rooms, but honestly, you’re here for the Red Sea, not to livestream your vacation. For the price point and the genuine hospitality, this place delivers exactly what it promises – a solid base for exploring one of the world’s best diving regions without the resort markup.
