Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of Red Sea resorts, but Robinson Soma Bay actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. When you’re driving down that Hurghada-Safaga stretch – and honestly, it’s about 45 minutes from Hurghada airport, so don’t expect a quick transfer – you’ll hit this turnoff at KM 48 that leads into what feels like a completely different world. Soma Bay itself is this planned resort peninsula, and Robinson sits right where it should: close enough to the marina that you can walk over for dinner at one of the restaurants there, but far enough that you’re not dealing with crowds from day-trippers.

The thing about this place is that it’s designed by people who understand how Germans vacation (it’s part of the Robinson Club chain), which means everything actually works. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, the air conditioning can handle the brutal summer heat, and – this might sound small but trust me – the shower pressure is fantastic. I mean, after a day of snorkeling or windsurfing, you want a proper shower, right? The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re smart about storage, and most have these partial sea views that are genuinely nice, especially from the higher floors. What really sold me was stepping out onto the terrace around sunset – you get this perfect view over the lagoon where all the kitesurfers are usually wrapping up for the day.

You know what sets Robinson apart from other Soma Bay properties? The activities program isn’t just for show. Their dive center is actually PADI certified and the instructors know the local sites inside and out – there’s this incredible coral garden about fifteen minutes by boat that most tourists never see. The windsurfing and kitesurfing setup is legit too, which matters because Soma Bay gets these consistent afternoon winds that are perfect if you’re into that sort of thing. Even if you’re not particularly sporty, the beach situation is solid – it’s this protected lagoon so the water stays calm, and the sand doesn’t get scorching hot like some of the beaches further north. The food surprised me honestly; breakfast has this great mix of international stuff and local options, and dinner… well, let’s just say their seafood game is strong. They do this grilled catch-of-the-day thing that’s become my standard order. Only real downside is that drinks are pricey, but that’s pretty standard for Egyptian resorts. Pro tip: there’s a small shop in the marina complex where you can grab water and snacks for way less than hotel prices.

  Robinson Club Soma Bay has particular philosophy in hospitality. Superb staff and Animation team. Everyone in Robison has optimal training quality and a unique email, helpful, cheerful, and very cooperative. The food & beverage was so lovely. The faculties and utilities of Robison are excellent.

  What could be improved: Zimmer etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Aber sie sind funktional (und man ist eh kaum dort).
  Zustand der Tennisplätze könnte besser sein (z.B. defekter Teppich an der Grundlinie).

  Tolle Lage direkt am Meer. Wirklich ausgezeichnetes Essen in verschiedensten Variationen und unterschiedlichen, tagesaktuellen Themen. Ich bin begeistert! Was mir besonders gefällt, und das gilt für jeden Robinson Club, ist die Freiheit und Unbeschwertheit, die man dort empfindet. Nichts geht verloren. Alles liegt immer noch am selben Platz, wenn man es abholt. Selbst Rucksäcke oder Wertgegenstände werden dort nicht weggenommen. Alles ist rundherum toll abgesichert, freundliche Menschen stehen zur Verfügung. Eingeprägt haben sich auch die besonderen Saunaaufgüsse von Joris und…, mit Kreativität, Witz, Musik und tollem Entertainment, mal wirklich etwas anderes im positiven Sinne!

  Schöne Lage am Meer.
  
  What could be improved: Oftmals zu langes warten ehe das Wasser warm wurde.
  Leider war die Musik an der Bar für unseren Geschmack oftmals nicht abwechslungsreich genug.
  Kleine Kinder bis ca. 24 Uhr auf der Tanzfläche fanden wir auch nicht so angenehm.
  Die Vorspeisenstation war sehr vegan ausgerichtet.
  Wir würden uns mehr über traditionelle Vorspeisen,
  wie z.B. Capaccio, grieschischer Salat wünschen.

  Keine gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der N ähe. Lange Transferzeit beim Ausflüge nach Hurghada. Alkohol an der Bar teuer (wie in der Schweiz)
