You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name sounds a bit goofy – I mean, “Mangroovy” – but honestly, it kind of fits once you’re there. This one-bedroom spot sits right in the Mangroovy Residence complex, and while El Gouna can feel pretty touristy in the main areas, this little corner actually has some breathing room.

The apartment itself is… well, roomy, just like they promise. Not fancy – we’re talking solid 3-star territory here – but there’s something refreshing about having actual space to spread out instead of being crammed into a typical hotel box. The bedroom’s got decent air conditioning (crucial in Hurghada’s heat), and the living area opens up nicely. What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup – not huge, but functional enough that you’re not stuck eating every meal out. The locals do their shopping at the nearby market area, and honestly, picking up some fresh bread and cheese there beats hotel breakfast most days.

The beach access is the real win here, though. It’s not the postcard-perfect Red Sea beaches you see in the fancy resort photos, but it’s genuinely free and way less crowded than the main El Gouna strips. The water’s still that incredible turquoise – I mean, you’re still on the same coastline – and the snorkeling’s actually pretty decent if you wade out a bit. The pool area gets busy around midday when families are out, but early morning or late afternoon? You’ll practically have it to yourself. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven around El Gouna’s winding streets will appreciate.

Look, the 7.3 rating tells you something – it’s not perfect. The Wi-Fi can be spotty (pretty standard for this part of Egypt), and don’t expect lightning-fast service if something needs fixing. But the staff I dealt with were genuinely helpful, especially this one guy at the front desk who knew exactly which taxi drivers to call for reasonable rates into Hurghada proper. The whole complex is actually pretty quiet at night, which was a pleasant surprise given how close you are to the main action.

What makes this work is the location balance – you’re close enough to walk to some decent restaurants and that little cluster of shops near the marina, but far enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually relax. The German and Italian families staying nearby seemed to have the right idea, treating it as a proper base camp rather than expecting resort-level pampering. If you’re the type who wants to explore El Gouna’s lagoons and maybe take day trips to Luxor without paying resort prices, this hits that sweet spot. Just don’t come expecting luxury – come expecting space, decent amenities, and that laid-back Red Sea vibe without the tourist markup.

  What could be improved: Extremely poor noise insulation of the windows: people screaming in the middle of the night coming back from parties, the wind rattling the windows, children yelling in the pool area from 6am – was very difficult to get any decent sleep

  The property is spacious, full of amenities, 3 mins walk to the beach , with direct access to the pool. It is exactly as advertised. The supernatural, Pharmacy and restaurant are mins away on foot ,
  I will definitely visit again if I am ever in GOUNA.

  What could be improved: V kúpelniach boli plesnivé steny a smrad od stuchliny. Ventilátory fungujú ale sú slabé. Apartmán bol pripravený iba pre dve osoby a nedočkali sme sa za 8 dní ďalšej posteľnej bielizne. Nefungoval zámok na vstupných dverách. Komunikácia s ubytovaním bola komplikovaná.

  – schwierige Kommunikation, jedes Mal eine neue Person am Telefon (wenn überhaupt erreichbar).Daher musste ich für die erste Nacht eine anderes Hotel suchen, da keine Sicherheit, dass wir jemand erreichen

  -für 3 Personen gebucht und nur 1 Bett. Keine Bettwäsche für Sofabett verfügbar
