Honestly, when I first pulled up to Sabina El Gouna, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but this spot completely changed my perspective on what a hotel can offer without the fancy price tag. The thing about El Gouna (and locals will tell you this) is that it’s not really about star ratings here; it’s about location and vibe, and Sabina nails both. You’re literally steps from both the lagoon and a gorgeous pool area, which means you can flip-flop between saltwater and chlorine depending on your mood – something I found myself doing way more than I’d care to admit.

What really got me was how the staff treated the place like it mattered, you know? I mean, this isn’t the Four Seasons, but the guy at reception knew everyone’s name by day two, and the housekeeping team actually paid attention to those little details that make you feel at home. The rooms are clean and functional – nothing Instagram-worthy, but the AC works like a dream (crucial in Hurghada heat), and honestly, the beds are more comfortable than places I’ve paid twice as much for. The lagoon access is the real game-changer though. Most visitors to El Gouna end up walking fifteen minutes or catching those little tuk-tuks to get to the water, but here you just wander down and you’re there. I spent entire mornings just floating around before the day-trippers showed up, watching the kitesufers do their thing in the distance.

The pool area gets busy around midday – mostly families with kids who’ve discovered the shallow end is perfect for splashing around – but early morning and late afternoon, it’s this peaceful little oasis where you can actually hear yourself think. There’s something about the way the palm trees are positioned that creates these perfect shady spots, and the pool bar (yes, there’s a pool bar) makes a surprisingly decent coffee. I kept running into the same group of German regulars who’ve been coming back for three years straight, which tells you something about the place. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be spotty in some rooms, and the breakfast isn’t going to win any awards, but when you’re paying what amounts to pocket change for direct lagoon access in one of Egypt’s most charming resort towns, these feel like pretty minor trade-offs. If you’re the type who needs marble bathrooms and turn-down service, look elsewhere – but if you want a genuine, unpretentious base for exploring El Gouna’s winding waterways and bizarre Venetian-meets-Middle-East architecture, Sabina delivers exactly what it promises.

  I can’t put it in more simpler words. This was absolutely amazing if you’re looking for a tidy, clean, quiet and peaceful place to grip your mind together from all what Sabina has to offer. I would definitely recommend it, the service from Sam is 100% percent brilliant.
