You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Safari Home when I first walked up to it on El-Nasr street – honestly, the name had me thinking it might be one of those cheesy themed places. But this little 3-star spot actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked right in the heart of Hurghada, which means you’re literally walking distance from everything that matters without being stuck in the tourist trap chaos that some of the beachfront hotels deal with.

The Wi-Fi thing isn’t just marketing speak either – I mean, you’d be shocked how many places in this part of Egypt still struggle with decent internet, but these guys have it figured out. I was video calling home without any of those awkward frozen-face moments, which honestly made my trip so much more relaxing. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works the way it should. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re close enough to the action that you can walk to the marina or hit up those late-night shawarma spots on Sheraton Road, but far enough from the main strip that you’re not dealing with party noise until 3 AM. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to the old souq, the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward the obvious tourist markets – he told me about this little spice vendor two streets over who’s been there for like thirty years.

Here’s the thing about Safari Home that really won me over: it feels like a place where actual people stay, not just tourists checking boxes off an itinerary. I saw Egyptian families there, some European backpackers, a few business travelers – that mix usually means you’ve found somewhere genuine. The location is seriously perfect if you want to experience Hurghada beyond just the resort bubble. You can walk to proper Egyptian restaurants where locals eat (not just the hotel buffets), catch a taxi to the Red Sea for diving without paying resort markup, and still have a comfortable, reliable place to crash at the end of the day. That 8-point rating it has? Yeah, that tracks – it’s the kind of place that does exactly what it promises without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
