Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to the Scandic Resort Hurghada on Tariq Arabia – the street name alone had me double-checking my GPS. But you know what? This place surprised me in the best way possible. It’s got that solid 4-star feel without trying too hard to be something it’s not, and after staying at a few hotels in Hurghada that promised the moon and delivered cardboard, that 8.6 rating actually makes sense when you’re there.

The location is pretty clever, actually – you’re on Tariq Arabia which means you’re close enough to the main tourist strip to grab dinner or hit the markets, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant honking and chaos that comes with being right in the thick of things. I mean, Hurghada can get pretty intense during peak season (November through March, trust me on this), so having that buffer zone is gold. The Red Sea is right there, obviously, and the hotel’s beach setup is decent – not pristine white sand or anything, but the water is that incredible turquoise that makes you forget about everything else. Check-in was surprisingly smooth too, which… well, if you’ve traveled in Egypt, you know that’s not always a given.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living there for a few days. The rooms stay cool even when it’s blazing outside (and it will be blazing – we’re talking 40°C in summer), the water pressure is consistent, and the wifi actually works in the rooms, not just the lobby. The staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing, which you can feel immediately. There’s this relaxed vibe throughout the property that I think comes from good management – people aren’t stressed or rushing around looking frazzled. The pool area gets busy around midday, but early morning or late afternoon it’s perfect for just floating around with a book. Food is solid Egyptian and international options, nothing revolutionary but fresh and well-prepared. I’d actually recommend venturing out for dinner sometimes though – there are some fantastic local spots within a 10-minute walk that’ll give you a more authentic taste of the area, and the hotel staff will point you in the right direction if you ask. Just don’t expect them to speak perfect English everywhere you go, but that’s half the fun of traveling, right?

  What could be improved: Stuff did not give us any space, all the time there was something that was needed. Impossible to talk with stuff because they mostly doesnt understand english. After leaving they started to ask money from us and told that we stole bedding set. Imbarrasing!
  Very stressful, dont recommend if you want to relax and enjoy your vacation. Also there is no no hot water, the pool is dirty and cold.
