Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Scandic Resort 647? It’s actually way better than you’d expect from a 3-star place in Hurghada. I mean, when you first pull up to the Red Sea coast area where it sits, it doesn’t look like much from the outside – honestly, most of these resort strips don’t – but once you’re inside, there’s this surprisingly chill vibe that just works.
The thing about Hurghada is that it can feel pretty touristy and rushed, especially down by the main marina area, but this place sits far enough back that you get some breathing room without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. The staff actually remembers your name after a day or two (which, let’s be honest, doesn’t always happen at these resort-style places), and they’re genuinely helpful with local stuff – like where to catch those shared taxis into town or which dive shops won’t completely rip you off. The rooms are clean and functional, nothing fancy but they’ve got decent AC that actually works during those brutal afternoon hours when the desert heat really kicks in. I appreciated that the beds were firm enough and the bathroom had proper water pressure – you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue along this stretch of coast.
What really makes this place work is the location balance. You’re close enough to walk to some decent local restaurants where you can get proper Egyptian food (not just the tourist-friendly stuff), but far enough from the main party hotels that you can actually sleep at night. The Red Sea is right there, obviously, and while the beach access isn’t private or anything special, it’s perfectly fine for swimming and the coral is still decent if you’re into snorkeling – though honestly, you’ll want to take a boat trip out to the better spots anyway. The pool area gets pretty busy during peak season, but early morning or late afternoon it’s perfect for just lounging around. One thing I really liked was how they handle the whole all-inclusive situation – it’s not overwhelming or pushy like some places, just straightforward food and drinks without a bunch of complicated rules about what’s included when.
The only real downside is that it can get a bit quiet if you’re looking for nightlife action – you’ll need to head into central Hurghada for that, which is maybe a 15-minute taxi ride. But honestly, after a day of diving or exploring the desert, that quieter atmosphere is exactly what you want. For the price point and the solid 8-star rating it’s earned, Scandic Resort 647 delivers on being a comfortable, no-nonsense base for exploring the Red Sea area without breaking the bank or dealing with overcrowded resort chaos.

The owners Natalia and Ashraf were very kind and helpful in trying to solve our requests.
