Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Scandic Resort” in Hurghada, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come from lowered expectations. This little spot on the outskirts of Hurghada actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The thing about Hurghada is that everyone rushes to the beachfront hotels right in the center, but that means dealing with crowds and honestly, way higher prices. Scandic Resort sits about 20 minutes from the main tourist strip, which I initially thought was a drawback – turns out it’s actually its biggest strength. You get this genuinely cozy atmosphere that the name promises, without the constant noise of jet skis and beach vendors. The staff here really does seem to care about making your stay comfortable, not just processing you through like cattle. I mean, the front desk guy remembered my name after day two, which doesn’t happen at those massive resort chains.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to nail that “comfy” vibe without trying too hard. The rooms aren’t Instagram-perfect, but they’re clean and thoughtfully arranged – like someone actually considered how you’d live in the space for a week. The beds are surprisingly good (I’m picky about mattresses), and the air conditioning works properly, which trust me, matters a lot in Egyptian heat. The pool area becomes this lovely quiet spot in the evenings where you can actually have a conversation without shouting. And here’s something I didn’t expect – they’ve got this little garden area that catches the breeze just right around sunset. I ended up spending way more time there than I planned, just reading and people-watching.

The location thing that initially worried me? Turned out to be perfect. You’re far enough from the chaos to sleep properly, but close enough that a quick taxi ride gets you to the Red Sea for diving or the souks for shopping. Plus, there’s this local coffee shop about a 5-minute walk away that serves the best ahwa (Egyptian coffee) I had during my entire trip – the kind of place you’d never find if you stayed right in the tourist zone. The hotel’s 8.7 rating makes total sense once you realize what they’re actually offering: genuine hospitality and comfort without the pretense. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which is refreshing in a place where so many hotels oversell and underdeliver.

  We like the localization of the resort. New building, new room, perfect working AC. New , silent and good working refrigrator, perfect and comfortable beds. Also beach, sand, sea and resort are very nice.

  Here's the checklist:
  – Amazing exteriors, pools, more than decent beach for the area, long wooden walk toward the sea. Amazing at sunrise/sunset time.
  – You want to see fish ? No need to book an extra activity. You can snorkel from the beach, water up to waist for at least 50m. Corals are not colourful but plenty of rays, puffer fish, parrot fish, Nemo and Dory etc
  – If you feel adventurous swim a bit more till the line and boom you go from 1m of water to a deep 15m with much more corals and even more fish !
  
  – The apartment was spacious, clean, ready to be used
  – Great bathroom with good shower pressure
  
  – Location very nice, nice restaurant/café/shops nearby, near diving marina so easy pick up from third party companies
  – Usual Uber ride was between 25 to 40 EGP
  
  – last but not least host friendly and extremely helping. !!
  
  Out of the 3 places we stayed in Hurghada this has been our favourite and will be or go back to when we come back for more diving !
  
  What could be improved: Nothing, we could see a few things we not complete yet in the resort but it was not a bother we are just excited to come back and see what will have changed

  The apartment owner is exceptionally helpful, well-educated, with fluent English.
  I liked their welcome email that landed to my inbox as soon as I booked on Booking, with contact and other helpful detail.
  The apartment is pretty good, facilities and amenities are new, clean, mattresses are new, fridge is large and doesn't smell bad (as sometimes occurs in similar places).
  We cooked, we used washing machine, we did our dishes manually, everything worked perfectly.
  Loved 3 swimming pools with different depth!
  
  What could be improved: 1) On TV we never could watch promised Netflix/Amazon/YouTube, we trouble-shooted it for 2 days, checked remotes, contacts, wifi, never could find or install required app. The man who they sent to support, could not figure out either. So we ended up using our own laptop, thankfully the free WiFi was steady and fast.
  2) You cannot simply use the TV and all it's plugs unless you brought your own socket extension. We brought ours, it's my habit to travel with the one.
  3) Receptionist overall could be a little bit more well-mannered, proactive, helpful.

  الشقة مجهزة كويس جدا و نظيفة و باين انها لم تستعمل كثير.موقعها في الغردقة ممتاز و قريبة من كل حاجة ومفيش أي دوشة حولها . و فيه gym في المكان بس مجربناهوش. الفندق مكانش زحمة أوي بالرغم أن احنا نزلنا في العيد. فيه سوبرماركت جمبها اسمه Supermarket Ezz فيه كل حاجة ممكن الواحد يحتاجها من أول الحاجات اليومية لحاجات البحر و السفاري و غيره و بسعر يمكن أقل من القاهرة. الشقة فيها wi-fi سرعته ممتازة و التلفزيون عليه أفلام كثير و اشتراك للحاجات كثير خلت الإقامة ممتعة جدا.أستاذ أحمد المالك محترم جدا و كان سريع في الاستجابة لأي مشكلة و كذلك إدارة المكان. فيه لسان في البحر التمشية عليه تحفة في الصبح بدري أو المغرب و فيه سلم بينزل علي البحر لانه مش عميق و بتمشي كثير عشان تبقي المياه واصلة للنص الجسم. مدفعناش أي حاجة غير ثمن الغرفة اللي مكتوب علي booking.فيه أعمال بناء في المكان بس مكانش فيه دوشة و مفيش أي صوت واصل للغرفة فمفيش تأثير لها. فعلا مكان كويس و مريح جدا للإقامة

  Ein recht neuer und modern eingerichteter Raum. Großes Bad mit einer hochwertigen Dusche.
  
  Mit Küche und Waschmaschine ( ohne Waschmittel dafür aber mit Bügeleisen)
  
  Meer und Pool sind eigentlich ganz cool. Das Resort am hat einen eigenen kostenloses Zugang. Allerdings schließt der Pool abends.
  
  What could be improved: Kein Klopapier. Das muss man selber einkaufen.
  Handtücher müssen im Schrank gefunden werden.
  Internet heißt auch nur Internet, kein Wifi.
  Fenster wirklich nicht geputzt.
  Allgemein ist das Gebäude nicht fertig gestellt und fühlt sich in teilen nach Bauruine an.
