Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the address for Scandic Resort Hurghada written in both English and Arabic, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The building number B402 and “third floor” reference made it sound more like an apartment complex than a hotel, but you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you.
Actually staying here completely changed my perspective on what a 3-star place can offer. The location puts you right in the heart of Hurghada without the crazy resort strip chaos – you’re close enough to walk to the main tourist areas when you want that energy, but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. I mean, if you’ve ever tried to get rest near some of those beachfront mega-resorts with their pool parties going until 2 AM, you’ll appreciate this. The building itself has this sort of residential feel that honestly grew on me – it’s like staying in a really nice local neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble.
What really struck me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about making sure you had everything sorted. Check-in was smooth (no standing around for ages like at some places), and they actually remembered my name after the first day, which… well, that doesn’t happen often at hotels anymore. The rooms are clean and comfortable – not fancy, but everything works properly, and the air conditioning is strong enough to handle those intense Egyptian summers. I particularly loved that the windows actually open, so you can get some fresh air when the temperature’s decent, usually in the early morning or evening. The bathrooms are a good size too, with decent water pressure – trust me, after a day exploring Hurghada’s dusty streets, a proper shower matters.
Parking was never an issue, which if you’re renting a car to explore the area, you’ll definitely appreciate. Some places in this part of town can be a nightmare for finding a spot. And here’s something I didn’t expect – the WiFi actually worked reliably throughout the building. I know that sounds basic, but I’ve stayed at supposed 4-star places where the internet was basically useless.
The neighborhood itself is pretty authentic – there are local cafes and small shops within walking distance where you can grab actual Egyptian food at local prices, not the tourist markup stuff. It’s also really easy to catch taxis or arrange day trips to places like Luxor from here, since you’re not stuck way out on some isolated resort strip. Honestly, for the price point, this place delivers way more than you’d expect. It’s perfect if you want a comfortable, well-run base for exploring Hurghada and the Red Sea area without paying resort prices or dealing with resort crowds.
