So I stayed at the Scandic Resort in Hurghada last spring, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. First impression? Well, it’s not gonna blow you away with marble lobbies or anything fancy like that – it’s a solid 3-star spot that knows exactly what it is. The location on the main stretch is actually pretty sweet though, you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the chaos of the Marina area where all the party boats dock at dawn (trust me, you don’t want to be near that if you’re trying to sleep in).

What I really liked about this place is how the staff genuinely seemed to care – not in that over-the-top resort way, but more like they actually wanted you to have a good time. The guy at reception, Ahmed I think, gave me the real scoop on where to catch the local buses to downtown Hurghada instead of just pushing the expensive hotel shuttles. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing Instagram-worthy but the AC works well (crucial in Egypt, obviously), and the beds are actually decent. You know what surprised me? The bathroom was bigger than expected, and the water pressure was solid – I mean, I’ve stayed in 4-star places in Cairo where the shower was basically a gentle mist.

The pool area gets busy around 10 AM when families start claiming their spots, but if you’re an early riser like me, you can have it pretty much to yourself with your coffee. The food situation is… well, it’s hotel buffet food, but they do a nice job with the local dishes. Skip the pasta and go for the grilled fish and Egyptian rice – much better bet. One thing to know is that the beach access isn’t direct from the hotel, but there’s a public beach about a 5-minute walk down the road that’s actually nicer than some of the private resort beaches I’ve seen. Plus, you’ll find cheaper snorkeling gear rentals there instead of paying resort prices.

The whole area gets pretty quiet after sunset, which is either perfect if you want to chill, or a bit boring if you’re looking for nightlife – in that case, you’ll need to head toward the Marina district or Sekalla, maybe a 15-minute taxi ride. Parking was never an issue when friends visited, and the wifi worked fine in the lobby and most rooms, though it got a bit spotty on the upper floors during busy periods.

Look, at a 7.6 rating, you know you’re not getting the Four Seasons experience, but for the price point, this place delivers what it promises. It’s clean, the location works, the staff is helpful, and you’re getting solid value in a city where tourist prices can get pretty wild. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to spend most of my time exploring Hurghada rather than lounging around the hotel all day.

  they cut the power at 12:10 pm and didn't give me extra time to pick up my bag and bathroom no window and dark.
  12:10 they have more than enough time for the next one but this was first time happened to me and I was choked by cutting the power on the guest I don't so think that the saucerful way to manger their business.

  the room has a small window on the street can hear the noise plus extremely dirty then never cleaned from the outside, and can't open a full
