I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name and location at Scandic Resort in Hurghada, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star place. But stepping out of that lobby and realizing you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from downtown Hurghada? That’s when it clicked why this spot works so well.

The whole setup is actually pretty clever. You get the apartment-style space (which means you’re not cramped into a tiny hotel room), but you’re still close enough to wander down to the main drag whenever you want. I mean, you can grab breakfast at the hotel, then walk to those little cafes near the marina for lunch without breaking a sweat. The free WiFi is solid too – I was video calling back home from the balcony without any issues, which honestly isn’t always a given in this part of Egypt. What really sold me though was how the staff seemed to know the area inside and out. The guy at reception gave me directions to this tucked-away spice market that I never would’ve found on my own, and steered me away from the tourist-trap restaurants right on the waterfront.

The apartment itself feels lived-in rather than sterile – there’s a little kitchenette that’s actually useful if you want to grab some fresh fish from the local market and cook it yourself. The air conditioning works well (crucial during those scorching afternoon hours), and the beds are comfortable enough that I wasn’t counting down the minutes until checkout. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but that’s sort of the point. You’re here for Hurghada, not to hide away in some resort bubble. The location means you can hear a bit of the street life, especially in the evenings when people are out and about – but it’s more atmospheric than annoying, at least it was for me. If you’re someone who needs absolute silence, maybe pack earplugs, but honestly the sounds of the city settling down for the night became pretty soothing after a day or two. The real win is being able to walk to the Red Sea waterfront in minutes, hit up the local souks without needing a taxi, and still have a proper base to come back to. It’s one of those places that gets the balance right between being part of the neighborhood and giving you space to breathe.
