Honestly, when I first rolled up to Selena Bay Resort in Hurghada, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but man, was I wrong. The thing sits right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the chaos of the main tourist strip. You know what really got me? The staff actually remembered my name by day two, which never happens at these bigger resorts. The check-in was refreshingly quick too – none of that standing around for an hour while they “prepare your room” nonsense.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve nailed the whole Red Sea vibe without trying too hard. The rooms are clean and comfortable (I mean, the AC worked perfectly, which is honestly half the battle in Egypt), and you can actually hear the waves from most of the beachfront rooms. The beach itself is small but pristine – not one of those packed stretches where you’re fighting for space. I spent most mornings there around 7 AM when it was just me, a few early risers, and the occasional camel walking by with tourists. The snorkeling right off the beach is surprisingly decent too; saw some colorful fish without having to book one of those overpriced boat trips.

Here’s the thing that really impressed me – the food. For a 3-star resort, they punch way above their weight. The breakfast spread has all the usual suspects, but they also do this incredible ful medames that tastes like someone’s grandmother made it. Dinner varies between Egyptian classics and international stuff, and honestly, stick with the local dishes because that’s where the kitchen really shines. The pool area gets busy around 2 PM when people escape the midday heat, but if you grab a spot in the morning or late afternoon, it’s perfect for just floating around with a book. One small thing – the Wi-Fi can be spotty in some rooms (mine was fine, but I heard others complaining), so don’t expect to be video calling home every night. The location works really well if you want to explore Hurghada proper – you’re about a 15-minute taxi ride from the marina and all those seafood restaurants, but you’re not dealing with the noise and hustle right outside your door. That 9.7 rating isn’t just inflated reviews from people who’ve never traveled; this place genuinely gets the basics right and throws in enough personality to make you want to come back.

  I booked the apartment, my husband and our friend stayed there for 6 nights. They really liked the apartment and the compound where it was located. It was nice that the owner met them at the aiport and accomodated them in the apartment for additional small payment. The owner was very friendly and was ready to assist with any questions.
