Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Selena Bay Resort, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the star system doesn’t tell the whole story, especially in Egypt where hospitality just hits different. This VIP apartment setup is tucked right into Al Ismaileya, and I mean literally on the water – not one of those “beach access” situations where you walk fifteen minutes through a resort maze.

The private beach thing is actually legit, which surprised me. Most places in Hurghada, you’re sharing sand with half the Red Sea tourism crowd, but here you’ve got this little slice that feels… well, private. The water’s that ridiculous turquoise you see in photos but think is oversaturated – turns out it’s not. I spent most mornings just sitting with coffee (decent Egyptian stuff, not hotel instant) watching the boats head out to the diving spots. Speaking of which, if you’re into that, the dive shops along this stretch are way less touristy than the ones near the big resorts in Sekalla. The apartment itself is bigger than I expected – actually feels like someone’s place, not a hotel room with a kitchenette slapped in. The AC works (crucial detail in Hurghada, trust me), and honestly, the whole setup just feels more relaxed than those massive resort complexes.

What really got me though was how quiet it stays, even during peak season. I was there in March when everything’s supposed to be packed, but you’d never know it from this little pocket of Selena Bay. The staff – and I’m talking maybe three people total – actually remember your name and what you like for breakfast. There’s this guy Ahmed who runs things, and he knows every taxi driver, every restaurant owner, basically everyone you might need to know. He’ll sort out your airport transfer for way less than those hotel shuttle services, and he actually steered me away from a couple tourist trap restaurants (rare honesty right there). The location puts you close enough to walk into town when you want some energy – maybe twenty minutes to the marina area – but far enough that you’re not dealing with the chaos unless you choose to. Only thing I’d warn about is that grocery runs require a bit of planning since you’re not in the thick of things, but honestly? That’s part of what makes it work. It’s one of those places where a perfect 10 rating makes sense not because everything’s fancy, but because everything just… works the way it should.
