Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places along the Red Sea coast, but Sentido Naga Bay actually surprised me – and honestly, that doesn’t happen often anymore. You know how most “family-friendly” resorts feel like they’re trying too hard? This one gets it right without beating you over the head with cartoon characters and screaming kids everywhere.

The thing about Soma Bay – and most people don’t realize this until they get there – is that it’s this sort of peninsula that juts out into the Red Sea about 20 minutes south of Hurghada proper. So you’re getting all the coral reef access without the chaos of the main hotel strip (which, let me tell you, can be a nightmare during peak season). When you pull up to Sentido Naga Bay, the first thing that hits you is how the buildings actually blend with the landscape instead of fighting it. The lobby opens right up to these views of Soma Bay’s turquoise water, and I mean, the photos don’t do it justice – there’s this clarity to the Red Sea here that’s almost unsettling if you’re used to murky beach water elsewhere.

What really won me over was the attention to details that actually matter. The pools – there are several, thank god – have these different zones where parents can splash around with toddlers while you can still find a quiet corner to read without someone’s kid cannon-balling next to your head every five minutes. The beachfront is this gorgeous stretch of sand, but here’s what’s cool: they’ve got this house reef that’s literally a few kicks from shore. I’m talking about decent snorkeling without having to book some expensive boat trip. The coral’s healthy, you’ll see parrotfish, maybe some rays if you’re lucky. Even the pool staff seemed to know the good snorkel spots – one guy told me the best coral was about 50 meters to the right of the main beach entrance, and he was absolutely right.

The rooms are solid – not Instagram-perfect, but comfortable in that lived-in way where you can actually relax. Air conditioning works well (crucial in Egypt, obviously), and the balconies face either the sea or these inland mountains that turn incredible colors at sunset. Honestly, the mountain views might be better than the sea ones, depending on your room placement. Food’s better than I expected too – breakfast has this mix of Egyptian specialties alongside the usual international stuff, and their dinner buffets don’t feel like cafeteria food. I particularly liked their seafood nights, probably because everything’s so fresh this close to fishing waters.

One thing worth mentioning: Soma Bay gets windy, especially in winter months, which is actually perfect for the windsurfers and kitesurfers, but it also means the beach doesn’t get uncomfortably hot even in summer. The whole area feels less hectic than central Hurghada – you’re trading some nightlife and shopping for peace and better reef access, which seemed like a fair trade to most families I chatted with. If you’re looking for a Red Sea experience that doesn’t feel like you’re staying inside a theme park, this place delivers without making you sacrifice comfort or good service.

  The staff was more than friendly we absolutely enjoyed our short but wonderful stay at sentido. We didn’t want to leave but we will definitely be back!! We couldn’t believe the level of hospitality we experienced. At no point did we ever feel uncomfortable the staff made sure every little wish of ours was fulfilled with Bravour! The food at the buffet was also super diverse and tasty they had a lot of different cuisines and also lots of vegan options too.
  It was very clean at all times the decor was also beautiful and very thought through. It was a very boutique hotel like experience!
