You know what struck me first about Serenity Alma Heights? The name change from “Fun City” actually makes perfect sense once you’re there. I mean, this place sits about 36 kilometers down the Hurghada-Safaga road in Makadi Bay, and honestly, it feels like they’ve figured out how to balance that resort energy with something more… I don’t know, sophisticated? The drive from Hurghada airport takes maybe 40 minutes, and you’ll pass a bunch of other resorts, but this one sits in a sweet spot where you’re not dealing with the chaos of central Hurghada but you’re not completely isolated either.

The property itself sprawls along this gorgeous stretch of Red Sea coastline, and here’s something most people don’t mention – the beach actually faces southeast, which means you get incredible morning light but you’re not getting blasted by afternoon sun when you’re trying to relax. The coral reef here is part of what makes Makadi Bay special; you can literally snorkel right off the beach and see decent marine life without having to book some expensive boat trip. I’ve stayed at places where they talk up their “pristine reefs” and it’s basically dead coral, but this spot still has healthy sections with parrotfish and those bright blue tangs that make you feel like you’re in a documentary.

What really sets this place apart – and maybe why it earned that 9.2 rating – is how they’ve handled the details that matter when you’re actually living there for a week. The pools (there are several) have different vibes throughout the day. The main one gets busy with families around 10 AM, but there’s this adults-only section that stays relatively quiet until after lunch. Check-in was surprisingly smooth; they had cold towels and this hibiscus drink that wasn’t too sweet, and our room was actually ready at noon instead of the official 3 PM time. Speaking of rooms, ours faced the gardens rather than the sea, which I was initially bummed about, but honestly? Way quieter, and you still get glimpses of blue through the palm trees.

The food situation is where a lot of Red Sea resorts fall apart, but they’ve got this figured out too. Sure, there’s the standard buffet with the usual suspects, but their seafood actually tastes like it came from the sea that’s literally right there. The Egyptian nights at the outdoor restaurant are worth timing your stay around – they bring in this oud player who sets up by the fountain, and the whole atmosphere just clicks. Fair warning though: if you’re here during European holiday periods (Easter, summer holidays), the property fills up with families and the noise level definitely jumps. But even then, you can find quiet corners if you know where to look – that little bar area near the dive center stays pretty chill, and the beach loungers on the southern end rarely fill up completely.

  its very fun and there is a variation of activities for children and the staff is very friendly and kind and the rooms are clean and there is many food options which is very nice.
  
  What could be improved: The rooms are very hot and the air conditioning wasnt working properly and there are alot of insects and the internet is very week if u booked a room not close to the reception.

  Everything was perfect, the aqua park is amazing and very enjoyable for Adults and Kids, the entertainment programs are very cool, Food is tasty and has a lot of varieties.

  We had a great stay at the hotel , thanks to all the staff, especially Mr. Ihab who Met us and make sure our stay was perfect , we had a family room at ground floor with pool view where you can open the window and go directly to the pool , the Aqua park was great and the marina in the see was excellent for snorkeling, the house keeping Mr. Mohamed and thanks to all staff on the pool and in the Aqua park
