You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Serenity Home Hurghada on Sahl Hashish Road – honestly, the name sounds like every other resort trying too hard to be peaceful. But this little villa-style place actually delivers on that promise, and I mean that in the best way possible.

The thing about Sahl Hashish is that it’s far enough from the main Hurghada strip to avoid the constant honking and tour bus chaos, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either. Villa 213 sits in this quiet residential area where you’ll hear the call to prayer echoing across the neighborhood in the early morning (which I actually found pretty soothing after the first day). The Red Sea is maybe a 10-minute walk, and there’s this little local café around the corner where the owner, Ahmed, makes incredible koshary – the kind of spot you’d never find if you stayed in one of those massive resort compounds.

What struck me most was how the place feels like someone’s actual home that they’ve opened up to travelers. The rooms have these personal touches – local artwork that isn’t just tourist market stuff, comfortable furniture that’s clearly been chosen for living in rather than just looking good in photos. The host family lives on-site, which means someone’s always around if you need anything, but they’re not hovering or trying to sell you excursions every five minutes. I had this issue with the shower pressure on my second day, and within an hour they had someone over to fix it – no forms to fill out or calling some corporate help desk. The Wi-Fi actually works consistently too, which honestly surprised me given how many places in this area still struggle with that basic necessity.

The location really grows on you. Sure, you’re not stumbling out of your room directly onto a beach, but that means you’re staying in a real Egyptian neighborhood instead of some tourist bubble. I’d walk to the main road each morning to catch a microbus into town – costs about 2 Egyptian pounds and you get to see how locals actually live. The nearby diving centers are way less crowded than the ones downtown, and the prices are better too. Plus, when you come back in the evening, you’re returning to this genuinely peaceful spot where you can sit on the little terrace and watch the sunset without competing with hundreds of other tourists for space.

I’ll be honest – it’s not luxury in the marble-and-gold sense. The towels are basic, there’s no fancy spa or multiple restaurants, and you might hear the neighbor’s rooster at dawn. But if you want a place that feels authentic, where you can experience actual Egyptian hospitality instead of the rehearsed resort version, this works beautifully. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does really well. Just remember to bring bug spray (the mosquitoes near the coast can be persistent) and maybe download some offline maps since the street signs in Mubarak 6 District can be… well, let’s say creatively placed.

  Very beautifully decorated villa with a gorgeous courtyard. Spacious, bright apartment, equipped with everything you need.Very good staff, ready to help at any time.
  
  What could be improved: I think the apartment needs a more thorough cleaning. It would be good to clean the curtains, furniture, sofa, kitchen. It needs a general cleaning.

  Looks really like in the pictures. Full kitchen and very nice pool. Tranquility because not so many rooms. Exceptional friendly stuff. Perfect breakfast included. We enjoyed our stay.

  What could be improved: There was only one washroom for a 3bhk apartment. Also we took free breakfast option, but only to know that they'd provide eggs milk bread and some other items and we should expect to make it ourselves
  Wifi was not covering every room and it was very week
