I mean, let’s be honest – when you see “modern apartments” in El Gouna, you’re not always sure what you’re getting, but this place genuinely gets it right.
The pool view rooms are where you want to be, obviously, but even from there you can catch glimpses of the lagoons that make El Gouna special. The apartments themselves feel properly lived-in rather than hotel-sterile – you’ve got actual kitchen space (not just a mini-fridge situation), and the AC actually works, which honestly isn’t a given everywhere in Hurghada during summer. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even when the place is full. You’re tucked away from the main Marina area noise, but it’s still an easy walk to get to the restaurants and bars when you want them. The pool area doesn’t get that crazy overcrowded feeling either – there’s this relaxed vibe where people actually talk to each other instead of just scrolling phones.
Here’s the thing about El Gouna that a lot of people don’t realize until they’re here – it’s not just another Red Sea resort town. It’s got this weird, almost artificial but charming Mediterranean-meets-Egyptian thing going on, and Sholan sits right in the sweet spot where you feel part of it without being overwhelmed by it. The staff actually remembers your name after a day or two (rare these days), and they’ll give you real recommendations, not just the tourist trap stuff. Parking’s never an issue, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with rental cars and wanting to explore the wider Hurghada area. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no hidden fees or surprise “resort charges” that some places spring on you. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, but it does everything well, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. If you’re the type who appreciates a place that feels authentic rather than trying too hard to impress, you’ll probably end up extending your stay like I did.
