You know what honestly surprised me about Siva Golden Bay Makadi? It’s one of those places that looks decent online but actually delivers more than you’d expect when you show up. I mean, driving down that Hurghada-Safaga stretch — which, let’s be honest, can feel pretty barren in parts — you suddenly hit this pocket of Makadi Bay where everything just opens up to the Red Sea, and there’s this hotel sitting right there like it belongs.

The thing about this place is it gets the balance right between being polished enough (it’s a solid 4-star, pulls an 8.6 rating for good reason) without feeling stuffy or overpriced. Check-in was smooth, none of that standing-around-forever situation you sometimes get at Egyptian resorts. The lobby has this airy feel — you can actually hear the sea from there, which I always think is a good sign. What really got me was walking through to the beach area for the first time. The grounds are bigger than they look from the road, and they’ve done this nice job with the landscaping where it doesn’t feel like you’re in some artificial resort bubble, but it’s not wild either. The pools are positioned so you’re not dealing with crazy crowds even during busy times, and honestly, the main pool area has this view that just makes you want to grab a drink and settle in for the afternoon.

Here’s what I really appreciated though — the beach access is legit. Not one of those tiny strips where you’re fighting for space, but actual room to spread out. The Red Sea here is everything people say it is, and the snorkeling right off the beach is surprisingly good. I saw more fish in an hour than I expected to see all week. The staff at the beach bar actually knows how to make a proper drink (not always a given), and they’re not constantly hovering trying to upsell you on excursions. Speaking of which, if you’re thinking about doing day trips to Luxor or desert stuff, this location works well — you’re not stuck way down south like some of the other resort areas, so the drive times are more reasonable. The hotel’s shuttle situation to Hurghada town is pretty reliable too, though honestly, you might not feel like leaving much once you’re settled in. The restaurant variety is better than most 4-stars I’ve stayed at in Egypt — they rotate themes throughout the week, and the seafood nights are actually worth planning around. Only minor thing is the WiFi can get spotty in some of the rooms, but poolside and lobby areas are fine. Overall, it’s the kind of place where you can tell they’re trying to do things right without breaking your budget, and that counts for a lot when you’re looking at Red Sea options.

  The hotel is truly exceptional when it comes to value for money and location. The location is beyond excellent. You get awesome sandy beach and very good coral reefs and colorful fish if you want snorkeling. The aqua is fun for both kids and adults. Food is very good. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I would love to visit again!!

  Truly Exceptional Experience
