You know what caught me off guard about this Mangroovy place? The name makes it sound like some quirky backpacker crash pad, but it’s actually a pretty solid setup in one of El Gouna’s better developments. I mean, El Gouna itself is this whole planned resort town about 30 minutes north of Hurghada – think less chaotic Egyptian beach city, more organized tourist bubble with actual sidewalks and decent infrastructure. The Mangroovy Residence sits right in the thick of it, and honestly, that rooftop they mention in the name? It’s legit. You can see the lagoons from up there, which is El Gouna’s whole thing – these interconnected waterways that make the place feel more like a tropical resort than your typical Red Sea destination.

The apartment itself is one of those efficient one-bedrooms that works well if you’re not planning to spend much time indoors anyway. The pool situation is honestly the best part – it’s shared but never felt overcrowded when I was there, even during peak season in March. What they don’t tell you is that “beach access” means a short walk through the resort grounds to get to the actual sand, but it’s not a bad walk and you end up at a pretty decent stretch of beach. The water’s that incredible Red Sea blue-green, and if you’re into snorkeling, you can actually see some decent coral right off the shore – nothing spectacular, but better than a lot of hotel beaches I’ve been to. The whole Mangroovy complex has this sort of Mediterranean-meets-Middle Eastern vibe going on, lots of terracotta and white stucco, which I know sounds cliché but it works here.

Here’s the thing though – and this is something you won’t get from the booking photos – El Gouna can feel a bit artificial sometimes. It’s beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but it’s very much a constructed resort town rather than an authentic Egyptian experience. That said, if you want reliable wifi, restaurants you can trust, and the ability to walk around at night without worrying about traffic chaos, it’s actually perfect. The 7.3 rating seems about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind, but everything works, it’s clean, the AC keeps up with the heat, and you’re close enough to the marina area to grab dinner without needing a taxi. Plus – and this matters if you’re planning day trips – it’s way easier to arrange diving excursions or desert tours from El Gouna than from downtown Hurghada. The whole place just runs more smoothly, even if it costs a bit extra. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was traveling with someone who gets stressed about logistics or wants that resort feel without the all-inclusive price tag.

  Furniture is cool and modern. Location was great nearby supermarket and salon and Fanadir marina.
  
  What could be improved: – Cleanliness was not at best. The couch in the living room had some hair and small insects and the towels were not in good cotton quality..
  – there is no elevator so it was difficult to transfer the bags to the second floor; a help would be appreciated if provided.

  What could be improved: We are not satisfied with our stay at Mangroovy M10-2A-23. We did like the appartement and Mangroovy overall. The location is great, the bed was comfortable and the outside pool amazing. Therefore we really hope that you use our feedback to improve the experiences of others. Also, we want to be compensated for the doorlock mistake. This really had a big impact on our final day of our holiday.

  Check-in
  It already started during our arrival. The adress details were wrong in the information you gave us (you said 12A instead of 2A). Our taxi driver and us have been looking for 12A for 30 minutes, with all suitcases and after a long travel. When we finally found the appartement, the description of how to use the lock were very vague. Also, the lock didn’t work properly already. It took us a long while before we figured it out. Not a nice way to start your holiday after a long trip.
  
  Locked out
  On our last day, we have been locked out for over 2 hours – because of empty battery of the doorlock… We called your service over 15 times and send many messages, no response. In the end, our security guy was able to get a hold off you and he tried to explain the situation. You promised to send someone, and that it would take 5 minutes. No one came, and after our security guy called again, we heard that you didn’t send anyone at all… But that NOW you would send someone. Why not send someone with the first call? Or answer our calls to explain how we were going to solve this? Finally, someone arrived from your company. He didnt speak english and was very impolite. No ‘sorry’ what so ever.
  As you can imagine, this was very frustrating for us. We had no idea what happened and how long it would take. It really ruined our last night of our holiday.
  
  Wifi
  As we are working remotely, its very important to have proper working wifi. In the 2nd week, the wifi wasn’t stable. Especially the last 3 days it didn’t work at all.
