Okay, so Solider Dali isn’t going to win any architecture awards, but honestly? It’s exactly what you want when you’re in Hurghada and don’t need to blow your budget on marble lobbies. I mean, it’s tucked away in the Soleder compound on Bowling Road – and yes, there actually is a bowling alley nearby, which my kids thought was hilarious – but the location works better than you’d think.

The thing about this place is that it gets the basics right without any fuss. The rooms are clean, the AC actually works (trust me, in August that’s everything), and you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main tourist strip but you can still get there easily enough. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – the compound setup means you’re not hearing scooters and taxis until 3 AM like some of the places closer to the marina. The staff, well, they’re not going to chat your ear off, but they know their stuff and the check-in was surprisingly smooth. I was expecting the usual Egypt paperwork dance, but we were in our room within twenty minutes.

You know what really sold me on this place though? The little details that show someone’s actually paying attention. The towels get changed when they need to be changed, not on some rigid schedule. There’s decent water pressure – I know, I know, but you’ll thank me when you’re trying to rinse salt out of your hair after a day at the beach. And the breakfast, while nothing fancy, hits the spot with proper Egyptian bread and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since the morning shift started. The pool area is small but it catches the afternoon sun perfectly, and there’s usually space to actually swim a few laps instead of just standing around. Honestly, for a 3-star place, they’ve figured out how to make everything work without pretending to be something they’re not. If you’re planning to spend most of your time diving or exploring Hurghada anyway, this gives you a solid base without the tourist hotel markup – and you’ll actually sleep well enough to enjoy those early morning boat trips.
