Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Sparky & Summery,” I thought we were in for some cheesy tourist trap situation. But this little two-bedroom gem in Mangroovy Residence completely changed my mind about El Gouna. The thing is, most people rush straight to the main hotel strips in Hurghada, but El Gouna is actually where the locals go when they want to escape the chaos – it’s this planned resort town that feels more like a Mediterranean village than typical Red Sea madness.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious, and you know what really got me? The kitchen actually works. I mean, really works – not just some sad mini-fridge and broken microwave situation. We ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because the local market is just a short walk away, and honestly, grabbing fresh bread and local cheese became this little ritual we loved. The beach access is the real deal too – no fighting for towel space or dealing with pushy vendors every five minutes. It’s more of a quiet stretch where you can actually hear yourself think, which is pretty rare along this coast. The pool area gets busy around midday (fair warning), but early morning or late afternoon? Perfect for those Instagram shots everyone pretends they don’t care about.

What really sets this place apart is the location within Mangroovy itself. You’re close enough to walk to the marina area where all the restaurants are – and trust me, try Abu Tig Marina for dinner at least once – but far enough from the main action that you’re not dealing with music until 2 AM. The property management is actually responsive too, which shocked me because that’s usually hit-or-miss in resort areas. They sorted out our AC issue within an hour, no drama. The 9.6 rating makes sense once you stay here – it’s not luxury by any means, but it delivers exactly what it promises without the usual vacation rental surprises. Plus, if you’re planning to explore the desert or do any of the diving trips, the location is perfect because you’re not stuck in downtown Hurghada traffic trying to get anywhere. Just keep in mind that El Gouna can feel a bit artificial if you’re looking for authentic Egyptian culture – it’s more of a comfortable bubble situation, which honestly might be exactly what you need after a long flight.

  The apartment is really nice, clean and convenient. The staff was super helpful with the few minor issues we had (not their fault). The pool is amazing and the beach very nearby.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing that was a problem is that the door and walls are pretty thin, so when there's a lot of movement on the corridor you can hear all of it, especially in the smaller bedroom.
  I would recommend adding some kitchen towels and sponges to the standard equipment as this was missing

  Cleanliness, location, amenities, attentiveness. WI-FI, TV with good choices of channels. Kitchen faucet was leaking and although it was repaired, the problem was not fixed.
  
  What could be improved: Wait for guest to arrive and give a tour, if possible. Have a golf cart available to take guests to the beach, stores, etc. Include a dish washer.
