You know what caught me off guard about Sphinx Aqua Park Beach Resort? It’s actually got personality – which honestly isn’t something I expected from a big resort complex on Arabia Road. I mean, the name pretty much screams “tourist trap,” but there’s something genuinely fun about this place that goes beyond the obvious water slides and pool bars.

The location is pretty solid if you know Hurghada at all. You’re far enough from the chaos of Sekalla (the old town) to actually relax, but close enough that a quick taxi ride gets you to the decent restaurants and that little spice market I always tell people about. The beach itself – well, it’s not the most pristine stretch of Red Sea coastline you’ll find, but the water’s warm and clear enough for snorkeling, and the resort keeps their section pretty clean. What I really appreciated was how the aqua park doesn’t completely dominate the property. Sure, you’ll hear kids shrieking with joy from the slides during the day, but by evening it quiets down and you can actually have a conversation by the pool without shouting.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place – nothing fancy, but the AC works properly (crucial in Hurghada’s heat), and most have decent balcony views. I stayed in one facing the garden area, which was actually preferable to the sea view rooms because you avoid the early morning maintenance noise from the beach. The staff genuinely seems to care, which makes a difference when you’re dealing with the inevitable resort hiccups. Check-in was smooth, though like most places in Hurghada, they’ll try to upsell you on excursions – just smile and say you’re still deciding. Food-wise, the buffet is better than average for this type of place. The Egyptian dishes are obviously the freshest, and they do a decent job with the international stuff too. Pro tip: the poolside grill actually makes a pretty good koshary if you ask – it’s not on the menu but the chef knows how to make it properly. Honestly, for families with kids who want that water park experience without staying somewhere completely soulless, this place hits the sweet spot. It’s got enough action to keep everyone busy but enough quiet corners that adults can decompress with a book and a cold Stella.

  1. Very good beach with deeper area for swimming and shallow area with sand.
  2. Free and convenient parking close to reception.
  3. Hotel staff is awesome.

  What could be improved: 1. Parking is uncovered and dusty. Also security is questionable – someone placed advertisement sticker on the windshield while I was parked there.

  What could be improved: The food was tragic and they only give you one bottle of water/ day, you have to pay if you want another one – do you call this all inclusive?

  The staff is really friendly and anxious. Quiet during night. A lot of entertainment programs, if you like that. (Minidisco, Camel back riding, snorkeling trip…)
  
  What could be improved: Not very clean, black hair in the beds and in the bathroom everywhere. The bathroom is a bit worn out, tiles, mirrors etc. are broken. The food is ok but not very good quality (no fresh juices only Sirup etc.) …
  They have monkeys in a small cage in the garden. I would prefer to see them wild in nature.

  The front office staff are super friendly, cooperative and welcoming. they upgraded the room to a sea view room with a panorama balcony with a wonderful view on the red sea, where you can enjoy sitting or standing at the balcony or even laying in bed.
  
  What could be improved: The maintenance condition of many facilities can be improved. The beach isn't well preserved and the coral is dead, not the best spot if you are interested in snorkelling, beach has lots of stones and using beach shoes is necessary. The food was below average when it comes to quality and can be bland sometimes.
