You know what struck me first about the Steigenberger Ras Soma? It’s actually tucked away in this sweet spot about 55 kilometers south of Hurghada – far enough that you escape the tourist chaos but close enough that you’re not stranded in the middle of nowhere. When our taxi turned off the main Safaga road, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect, but then you round this bend and boom – there’s this sprawling resort right on Soma Bay with the Red Sea stretching out like glass.

The thing about this place is that it feels genuinely Egyptian luxury, not some generic international chain trying to be everything to everyone. I mean, they’ve got the usual suspects – multiple pools, restaurants, spa – but there’s something about the architecture and the way the staff actually remembers your name after day two that makes it feel more authentic. The lobby has these gorgeous marble floors that stay surprisingly cool even in the afternoon heat, and honestly, the air conditioning works better than most places I’ve stayed in Egypt (which, if you’ve been there in summer, you know is no small feat). What really got me was how quiet it is – you’re literally steps from the beach, but the resort is designed so you can find these pockets of complete silence if you want to just read or nap.

The beach situation is where this place really shines though. Soma Bay isn’t like those packed stretches in central Hurghada where you’re fighting for space – the water here is this incredible turquoise, and the coral reef is close enough that you can snorkel right from the shore. I spent most mornings just floating around looking at parrotfish and feeling like I had the whole Red Sea to myself. The resort’s beach service is solid too – they actually bring you cold towels and fresh fruit without you having to ask, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re baking in 35-degree heat. Evenings are where the magic happens though – there’s this gentle breeze that kicks in around sunset, and the resort’s main restaurant has these outdoor tables where you can watch the sky turn pink over the water while eating some surprisingly good seafood. I’ll be honest, the food exceeded my expectations – lots of fresh fish, decent Egyptian specialties, and they even nail the continental breakfast (proper coffee, not that instant stuff you sometimes get). The only minor thing is that WiFi can be spotty in the rooms furthest from the lobby, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise.

  We loved absolutely everything about this hotel, from the staff to the facilities .. everything was amazing
  It’s extremely relaxing and the beach is beautiful
  
  The all inclusive meal plan is awesome .. the main buffet has endlesssss options and also you could eat at any of the other restaurants in the hotel
  
  What could be improved: If i could add one comment it would be that i would have liked to be able to eat at my umbrella on the beach .. not having to leave all my stuff at the beach to go and have lunch at the beach restaurant

  My recent stay at the Steigenberger Resort in Ras Soma was nothing short of incredible, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by every aspect of this magnificent hotel.
  The food was absolutely delicious, offering a fantastic array of culinary delights. Every meal was a true pleasure, with fresh ingredients and expertly prepared dishes that catered to all tastes. Chef Abd Rahman made for me the best pasta ever , Whether it was the main buffet or the specialty restaurants, the quality and variety were consistently outstanding.
  What truly elevated my experience, however, was the exceptionally helpful staff. Mr Mahmoud el badry duty manager was very professional and helpful I faced a problem with my room and he took care of everything

  My stay at Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warm hospitality and a level of service that made me feel truly valued as a guest.
  
  The resort itself is stunning – a perfect blend of modern luxury and natural beauty. The three pools offered something for everyone. I especially appreciated the dedicated children’s pool, which was ideal for families and allowed adults to relax undisturbed. The main pools were beautifully designed, with plenty of loungers and shaded areas, making it easy to unwind and soak up the sun.
  
  One of the absolute highlights was the beach. The sand was soft and clean, and the crystal-clear water was simply breathtaking – perfect for a morning swim or an afternoon of snorkelling. It felt like a slice of paradise, and the calm, shallow water made it safe and enjoyable for all ages.
  
  The resort offers a wide range of amenities, including excellent dining options, a fully equipped spa, and water activities. The food was always fresh and delicious, with plenty of variety to suit different tastes and dietary needs.
  
  What truly stood out was the attention to detail and the friendly, professional staff who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable.

  1) The food is good. Specially bakery and deserts section.
  2) The spa is very good

  5) There is a hourly shuttle to KBC for kitesurfing.
  6) Padel courts and gym is very good.
  7) Good hotel for families and couples.
  
  What could be improved: 1) Animal protein quality (meat, chicken) has to be improved. Bakery and desert section is good, but meat quality has to be improved.
  2) There is no curtain (except the net curtain) in the room. There is no possibility to make the room dark, the sun enters in the room around five o'clock in the morning, and it's very difficult to sleep.
  3) There is not enough seats around the poolside, all guests put their towels to reserve the seats and it's impossible to find one. I remember a day, half of the poolside seats were occupied by towels but no people. The staff promises to collect towels if nobody shows up in one hour. But this is practically not possible.
  4) Evening animations are held mostly in Safari Bar. There is no place there for all customers either. You have to come early to reserve your seat.
  5) While there exists some, the entertainment activities are quite poor and there is nothing to do after 22:00.
  6) If you're not coming for surfing, the hotel is not for singles.

  What could be improved: We love everything there, only annoying thing are the typical German tourists throwing the towels on the sun chairs at the pools from 6 am to Reserve them and disappear for hours .. just as always disrespectful, hope the watchers there will remove the towels if the places are not used for a col of hrs !!!

  Very nice hotel with fantastic à la carte restaurants. The reservations for the restaurants need to be done early on for dinner but we had a chance to try out all the restaurants. Especially the one at the beach is so lovely and the food is amazing too.
  
  What could be improved: The only downside is that the German guests reserve the sun chairs early in the morning and occupy the chair the whole day without using it. The hotel has a 1 hour policy for unused chairs but they don't follow up on it which is a shame. I would expect the staff to remove the towels from the unused chairs so other guests also have a chance to enjoy the pool area.
