Honestly, when I first pulled up to this place in Sahl Hasheesh, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot – but man, was I wrong. The Veranda compound sits right on this gorgeous stretch of Red Sea coastline, and you know what hit me first? The smell of salt air mixed with those tropical flowers they’ve got planted everywhere. It’s one of those scents that just makes you exhale and realize you’re actually on vacation.

The one-bedroom unit I stayed in had this killer pool view that I’d wake up to every morning, and I mean, there’s something about sipping your coffee while watching the sun hit that turquoise water that just sets the whole day right. But here’s the real kicker – the private beach access. I’m talking about walking maybe two minutes from your door to having your toes in actual Red Sea sand. No crowded hotel lobbies to navigate through, no fighting for pool chairs at dawn. The beach itself isn’t huge, but it’s surprisingly clean and the water… well, if you’ve never snorkeled in the Red Sea, you’re missing out. Even right from shore, the coral formations are incredible.

What I really appreciated about this place was how quiet it stays, even during peak season. The compound’s set up so you’re not hearing every conversation from neighboring units, and the pool area never felt chaotic – probably because it’s not one of those massive resort complexes. Check-in was pretty smooth too, though I’d recommend having the compound’s exact location saved on your phone because the signage along the main Sahl Hasheesh road can be a bit confusing if you’re coming from Hurghada airport. The drive’s about 20 minutes south, and honestly, it’s worth it to be away from the busier hotel strips. You’ve got this more residential feel while still being close enough to hit up the restaurants and shops in the main Sahl Hasheesh development when you want a change of pace. The veranda they mention in the name? It’s actually perfect for those evening hours when the heat dies down but you’re not quite ready to head inside. I found myself out there most nights, just listening to the waves and planning the next day’s diving spots.
