You know what struck me first about Sunny Days Palma De Mirette? It’s actually got character – not the cookie-cutter resort vibe you get at some of these Red Sea places. Sitting right on the Corniche, it’s got this prime spot where you can watch Hurghada’s fishing boats head out in the early morning while you’re having coffee on your balcony. I mean, the 4-star rating tells part of the story, but honestly the 8.3 guest score feels about right – it’s solid without trying to be something it’s not.

The spa here is where they really shine, and I’m saying this as someone who’s been to way too many hotel spas that are basically just fancy rooms with massage tables. This one actually feels like they put thought into it – the treatments incorporate local ingredients, and the staff knows their stuff. The resort sits far enough from the main Hurghada chaos (you won’t hear the late-night street noise that plagues some of the downtown hotels), but you’re still close enough to walk to the local markets if you want to haggle for souvenirs or grab some proper Egyptian street food. The beach access is decent – not the pristine paradise you’ll see in the brochures, but the Red Sea is the Red Sea, and the snorkeling right off the shore is surprisingly good if you wade out past the shallow bits.

What I really appreciated was how the place handles the little things that can make or break a trip. Check-in was smooth, parking’s not a nightmare like it can be along the Corniche, and the rooms – well, they’re comfortable without being flashy. The air conditioning actually works (trust me, in Hurghada heat, this matters), and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept on a cloud made of quicksand. The pool area gets busy during peak season, but there’s usually space if you’re not picky about being right next to the bar. Food’s typical resort fare – not going to change your life, but they do a decent job with fresh seafood and there’s enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying more than a few days. Honestly, for the price point and location, it delivers what it promises without the pretense of trying to be the fanciest place on the coast.

  The housekeeping staff and front desk were really nice, especially Mr. Mahmoud.

  Large campus – there’s three connected hotels so you can always find a spot by the pool. Aqua park stuff for the kids kept them amused. The food buffet was vast, and satisfied our healthy eaters. The garden area was particularly nice, we recommend staying there if you want to avoid the post-9pm entertainment /noise. Thanks to cleaner Ibrahim and waiter Ashraf- in fact, all the staff were pleasant and great with the kids.
  
  What could be improved: It’s a little tired in places, but this is Egypt. Showers cubicles are tiny. Restaurant coffee is awful. And
  it would be nice if the nets in the sea kept out the jellyfish?

  Beside the one inconvenience, the staff was very nice, and the food was amazing.
  
  What could be improved: I had a major inconvenience, which the location on booking for the hotel was wrong, and I had to drive another 45 minutes and they don't answer their phone number that's on booking too, when I arrived and I told the Reception he wasn't answering me and had a big smile on his face and he kept asking for the ID's and handing me document to fill and when I told him he's not giving any attention to my issue and I'm frustrated he said its not his problem he didn't add the location on booking, honestly it was a very disappointing beginning. We booked all inclusive expecting including Wi-FI, we found that Wi-fi was extra charge and there wasn't any network in the rooms.

  Everything was beautiful, especially that the sea and the swimming pool are in one place, the rooms are nice
