Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Sunset Boutique Hotel Sahl Hasheesh? It’s actually set back from the main Sahl Hashish Road bustle, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to sleep past 7 AM. I mean, Hurghada can get pretty lively, but this spot feels like someone deliberately carved out a quieter corner without completely isolating you from everything.
The thing about Sahl Hasheesh – and locals will tell you this – is that it’s sort of the more upscale sibling to central Hurghada, so you’re getting that Red Sea access without the complete tourist circus. This boutique place gets that balance right, I think. It’s got that 4-star comfort level without trying too hard to be fancy (though honestly, the lobby does have this slightly overdone marble thing going on – but whatever, it’s Egypt, everything’s a bit dramatic). The rooms actually face different directions, and if you can swing it, ask for one of the upper floors facing west. Trust me on this – the sunset views over the water are legitimately spectacular, not just Instagram-hype spectacular.
What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know their stuff about the area. Like, they’ll tell you which days the local markets are worth hitting, or that the dive shops about ten minutes down the road are way better than the touristy ones near the marina. The pool area gets pretty busy around midday – seems like that’s when the families with kids converge – but early morning and late afternoon it’s actually quite peaceful. The water’s kept clean, which isn’t always a given at this price point. Food-wise, well, it’s hotel food, so temper expectations, but the breakfast spreads are decent and they do make a surprisingly good coffee. I’d probably venture out for dinner most nights though – there’s this little seafood place about a 15-minute walk toward the main strip that absolutely destroys anything you’ll get at the hotel restaurant.
The beach access is where things get a bit tricky – it’s not directly beachfront, but there’s a shuttle that runs pretty regularly to their beach area. Takes maybe five minutes, runs every half hour or so, though it can get crowded during peak season (basically November through March). The beach itself is actually really nice – proper Red Sea with decent snorkeling right off the shore if you bring your own gear. Just watch out for the sea urchins near the rocky bits.
Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or anything – that 7.7 rating feels about right. But if you’re looking for a solid base to explore the Red Sea coast without paying resort prices, and you don’t need everything to be absolutely perfect, this place delivers. The AC works reliably (crucial in summer), the beds are comfortable enough, and you’re positioned well for day trips to places like Makadi Bay or even pushing down to Safaga if you’re feeling adventurous. Just don’t expect lightning-fast WiFi or 24-hour room service – this is boutique Egypt-style, which means charming with a few quirks thrown in.

Reviews

I had a pretty good experience!
A solid 8.5 for me, this is why I rate 9 on this review and 8 on another.
PROS
– The room was big, modern, and pretty. The AC worked well too.
– Attentive staff at Sunset Boutique. The receptionist Ziad always going above and beyond to help.
– Lovely lobby with good Wi-Fi
– You can choose between 2 hotels for your meals.
– The Pyramisa isn’t too far away so you can choose to walk ~1km.
– Use of all facilities at Pyramisa including pool, beach, and fitness classes.
What could be improved: CONS
– No toiletries provided on arrival. I had to ask for some hand soap.
– The shower often does alternate between hot and cold.
– Another shuttle at 11pm would be perfect.
– It was very unfortunate but I had the worst stomachache in my 6 months of travel after eating dinner 1 night at the Pyramisa Hotel. This really put a damper on my 2nd day. Maybe it was a random coincidence, but not pleasant.Poppy from Romania – 5 December 2024 (8/10)
