Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Sunset View at Scandic Beach? It’s actually got more character than you’d expect from a 3-star place in Hurghada. I mean, the name’s a bit of a mouthful – honestly sounds like they couldn’t decide between calling it Sunset View or Scandic Beach, so they just went with both – but once you’re there, it starts to make sense.
The location is pretty solid if you know Hurghada at all. You’re not right in the touristy marina area where everything’s overpriced, but you’re close enough that a quick taxi ride gets you there without breaking the bank. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually care about the place running smoothly. Check-in was straightforward (no standing around for ages like at some of the bigger resorts), and they were genuinely helpful with local recommendations rather than just pushing expensive hotel tours. The WiFi – which they make a point of advertising in the name – actually works well throughout most of the property, though it can get a bit spotty by the pool during peak hours when everyone’s trying to upload their vacation photos.
Here’s the thing about the sunset views they’re promising: they’re legitimate, especially from the upper floors. I watched a few from the terrace area, and honestly, there’s something about the way the light hits the Red Sea that makes even a decent hotel feel special for those twenty minutes each evening. The rooms are clean and comfortable enough – nothing fancy, but the AC works properly (crucial in Hurghada’s heat), and the beds are actually pretty good. You’ll hear some noise from the street in the morning since it’s not tucked away from everything, but it’s not the kind of place where you’re dealing with loud music until 3 AM either. The whole vibe is more relaxed than party-central, which works well if you’re planning to explore the area during the day and just want a reliable place to crash at night. For a 3-star spot, it delivers on the basics without trying to be something it’s not – and sometimes that’s exactly what you need in a place like Hurghada where you’re probably spending most of your time out discovering the incredible diving spots or wandering through the old town anyway.
