Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “SunShine AbuTig Marina,” I was expecting another generic Red Sea resort trying too hard to impress tourists. But actually walking into this place on El Gouna Club Road? Complete game-changer. The thing is, El Gouna isn’t your typical Egyptian resort town (it’s basically been designed from scratch to feel more like a Mediterranean village), and this 3-star spot really gets that vibe right. You know what struck me first? The lobby doesn’t assault you with marble and gold like so many places here do – it’s got this relaxed, almost understated feel that makes you think the owners actually care more about comfort than showing off.

The location is honestly pretty brilliant if you know El Gouna at all. You’re right in the heart of things but not drowning in the chaos that hits some of the beachfront places during peak season. I mean, you can walk to Abu Tig Marina in maybe five minutes – and that’s where all the good restaurants and nightlife happen anyway. The whole area gets this lovely breeze off the Red Sea in the evenings, which means you’re not stuck with air conditioning blasting all night (though the rooms are well-cooled when you need it). What really surprised me was how quiet it stays despite being so central – I think it’s because they’ve positioned the rooms away from the main road traffic. Check-in was refreshingly smooth too, none of that “we need to see your passport seventeen times” nonsense you sometimes get.

Here’s the thing about this place that really won me over – it feels like someone actually thought about how people want to spend their time. The pool area isn’t massive, but it’s got these perfect little corners where you can escape with a book, and the bar service is spot-on without being pushy. Staff genuinely seem to remember your name after day two, which honestly doesn’t happen everywhere. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but you’ve got everything you need and the beds are actually good (I’m picky about mattresses). I stayed during shoulder season in late April, and honestly, that might be the sweet spot – warm enough for swimming, not so crowded that you’re fighting for loungers. The breakfast spread is solid too, mix of international stuff and local touches, though I’d still recommend venturing out to try some of the marina restaurants. With a 9.9 rating, you’d expect something special, and while it’s not flashy luxury, it’s that rare place that just gets the basics incredibly right and adds enough personality to make you want to come back.

  The location was perfectly located in the marina, next to everything you’d need and close to a Tuk tuk stop and within a few mins ride of other popular spots around, including mangrove beach.
  
  The rooms were big and spacious, which included a pool table as well. There were more than enough towels and toiletries for us and even cleaning supplies. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and more. The place even included a fresh fruit platter, juice, coffee, tea, biscuits, and sweets.
  
  John, our host, was fabulous. He was easy to contact, helpful when needed, and very polite and kind. We were able to extend our stay which made our weekend getaway nicely extended.
  
  What could be improved: This is a complaint, but just something that could have made this stay even better- there isn’t a pool in the building.

  The apartment was exceptional. All comfort facilities were there. The apartment was really big. The location is excellent inside the marina so we didn't even use the car. Walking distance from every where.
  The owner was very welcoming and available 24/7 for any inquiry or help.
