Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to SunShine Y1-1-19, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in El Gouna. The name’s a bit quirky (sounds more like a GPS coordinate than a hotel), but honestly? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you upfront.

What really got me was how this place just… works. You know what I mean? It’s tucked into the Y1 district, which is actually perfect if you want to be close to the marina action without paying those ridiculous Downtown El Gouna prices. The staff genuinely seem to care – not in that overly rehearsed way you get at the big chains, but more like they actually want you to have a good time. Check-in was smooth, no weird surprises with fees, and they knew exactly which rooms get the best breeze (trust me, in Hurghada heat, this matters more than thread count). The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which is honestly more than I can say for some 5-star places I’ve stayed at along the Red Sea coast.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: it’s got that sweet spot location where you can walk to decent restaurants and cafes without fighting tourist crowds, but you’re still close enough to hop over to the main El Gouna attractions when you want to. The pool area actually gets quiet in the afternoons – perfect for those post-dive naps if you’re doing the Red Sea thing. And speaking of diving, the dive shops nearby give guests here pretty good deals since they’re not paying the premium location rents. I mean, a 9.6 rating doesn’t happen by accident, right? After staying here, I totally get it. It’s one of those places where small details add up – like how they actually have decent water pressure in the showers, the AC doesn’t sound like a helicopter, and the WiFi works in the rooms (not always a given in this area, believe me). Plus, the whole vibe is just relaxed. No pretentious lobby music, no staff hovering around trying to upsell you on everything. Just a solid, well-run place where you can base yourself while exploring what El Gouna and the wider Hurghada area have to offer.

  John was very Hospitable and made sure everything was perfect during our stay. The place was in great location and clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

  the apartment was very clean and well maintained. Everything was new. i liked that the bathroom has amenities like hotels.
